Thanks Chris, I tried that plugin you mentioned but it only works for Posts, Pages and Attachment post types. I’m checking with the developer to see if it can be adapted easily for TEC.

A while ago we used your iCal Importer to sync with a Google Calendar, I assume that is where the duplicate events came from, but i could be mistaken.

Anyway I’ll let you know how I go, cheers

Hi Cliff, thanks for getting back to me. Yes, everything is running on the latest version.

I tried the SQL method on a duplicate of the site but it didn’t do anything because it looks like it only works for duplicates that have a parent ID.

I assume to have a parent ID it must be a recurring event in TEC, however these are not recurring events but are duplicate events with no parent ID. I could be wrong though.

I tried your Advanced Post Manager plugin and found only 9 recurring events.

I could increase the items per page to 300 or so and delete all the old events, but that will be very boring! Can you think of a way to do this? thanks

Ok thanks Barry, the menu part is fine, it’s just making pages the child of an event that is tricky, as well as the breadcrumbs and url.

I’ve done a bit more research and see that post relationships are not part of the WordPress core, they are under consideration and can be done in the time being by using a plugin and a lot of coding.

I’ll put it in the ‘too hard’ basket for now, thanks anyway, cheers Mark

Thanks barry for getting back to me, sorry I don’t know to do that. My only criteria would be ‘are there any events now or in the future’ I guess I’ll need to hire a developer unless you can help me further

Great thanks Barry, I guess I’ll need to pay a developer to help me out with this one. Browser title and meta descriptions are critical for good seo, so it is strange that is is so hard to do such a simple thing for the main calendar page. I hope this will be included in admin soon! – I’ve run out of votes so i can’t suggest it.

I always use the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin, it does usually have a way to edit these things but it doesn’t detect the main calendar page unfortunately.

While you are fixing the code you could add some usability enhancement. At the moment it says:

“No matching events listed under category. Check out upcoming events for this category or view the full calendar”

but if there are no upcoming events for the category then it there is no logic in suggesting checking out upcoming events for that category.

Secondly you may as well put a link on the words “view the full calendar”

Lastly on the page with no current event there is a link to “previous events”, if you click it you get to watch a loading icon for all eternity.

If you go to the link it’s trying to go to you get different error:

“Catchable fatal error: Object of class stdClass could not be converted to string in ***/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/tribe-template-factory.class.php on line 269”

It’s trying to go to a url with /past on the end
