Thanks for the quick response, Rob.

I am taking over from another developer who unfortunately created a custom theme for my client, using “twenty ten” as the base. It will likely take too much time (and cost) for me to determine which elements of the custom theme can be overwritten by the newer “twenty eleven” files, so I am going to suggest that she use the default WP calendar or go another route. Would it be possible to refund her the single license fee in that case?
