Thank you, I appreciate the assist. We did not add any add’l code to get the plugin to support events (as outlined in your link) — it has done this by default.

The only setup that has been done for Jetpack was that we installed jetpack and connected it to a facebook page.

The only customization that was done on Jetpack was to ‘uncheck’ the publicize checkboxes by default, so the admin can select which posts s/he would like to be posted to FB. (this code: http://jetpack.me/2013/10/15/ever-accidentally-publicize-a-post-that-you-didnt/)
