Ugh, spoke too soon. It looks like the List view is also needing to be redone now, as it is now showing links for venues (and I would imagine, organizers).

Sorry, wish I was a PHP guru, but could use a bit more assistance here. I’m imagining the change should be in ‘/list/single-event.php’, but I can’t determine exactly how to do it. It appears the ‘pieces’ are being put together in the top as an array, but I’m not sure how to adjust so they only pull the name & not make it a list.

    – Can you let me know how to fix this as well (for both venues & organizers). Want to make sure a fix will last a few versions if possible as well…

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. This did the trick and I was also able to use it to get rid of the link for organizers as well. Thanks!

Any idea how ‘future-proof’ this approach is? We removed all the code we had previously added to functions.php to do the same thing, but as we use these same techniques across multiple sites, it’s really tough to stay on top of little changes that aren’t always immediately obvious (another example is an id that added a ‘-0’ to the end for the maps display in v3.8 – broke our styles).

Hi, thanks for the update. That is helpful.
But I looked through all of the template files and couldn’t find anything that would cause the map to have a different aspect ratio when on it’s own vs. in the Details box.

So I dug deeper into the CSS and caught something I hadn’t see before that you guys have setup. In case it helps anyone else figure out how to alter the map size, here’s what it is:

There’s a rule on the inner map like this:
    .single-tribe_events .tribe-events-meta-group #tribe-events-gmap {height: 0; padding-top: 100%;}

The padding-top is causing the map to display as square. And for what it’s worth, setting a specific size in the template file as an argument is getting overridden, so it doesn’t really do anything.

    Hope this helps someone!

Hi, I’m wondering if now with the new version out and installed if any direction could be given as to my initial inquiry? I’m now using EC v3.7 & WP 3.9.2.
Again, I was wondering how to get the maps to display with a rectangular aspect ratio (not square) when they are in the same box as the Details/Organizer. They display as a horizontal rectangle when in their own box below the Details box, but display square when in the single Details box. Just makes it hard to get a good map size without wasting vertical space.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! I added that snippet and it appears to make the Venue and Map show up correctly in their own box underneath the ‘Details’ box (as when an Organizer is also used). The map is sized how I want, but just wish they could be combined. The Details now are just a tiny bit of info in a huge box. Not real efficient.

    – Any way to get the map aspect ratio / sizing, without it having to split into a whole separate container?

Thanks. Just trying to get better use of the space.

Just a note in case it’s helpful. We saw the same issue with recurring events on a fresh install of 3.5.1 (we had v.1.3.3, but just deactivated it and installed this fresh). So we didn’t update a v.3.x to 3.5.1.

It seemed to occur on test events that were set to recur weekly, not monthly, if that makes any difference. But we didn’t keep testing it after that. These were single-day events (not spanning multiple days).

    Barry,

We did some more testing to try to narrow the problem down. On a separate test site, we reverted back to ECP 1.3.3 in conjunction with WPML 2.6.0. Everything works as expected; no 404 errors to be found. The 404 issues seem to be linked to something happening under the skin in ECP 2.0.

We’re wondering if you’d be able to give us some direction as to the different components that changed in the 2.0 update to ECP, specifically in regards to the previously mentioned buttons and permalink handling? We’re looking to have our developer take a look at it and want to give him as good of a starting point as possible.

    Thanks,
    B.

    Barry,

We have about 25 sites using ECP 1.3.3 with WPML 2.4.0 without the 404 issues we’re experiencing with ECP 2.0 and WPML 2.6.0. We’re aware that ECP underwent a major change with the release of 2.0 and are wondering if the way 2.0 handles the ‘Event List’ button, ‘Calendar’ button, and the Category link, is the culprit??

It’s likely more complex than that, but just thought we’d offer up the idea.

    Thanks,
    B.

    Barry,

We’ve also contacted WPML support in regards to the 404 issues and the Recurring Events (see our separate thread). While the WPML team is not familiar with Events Calendar Pro, they do offer this program (http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/) where their developers work with plugin authors for full WPML compatibility. It may be of interest to the ECP developers moving forward with WPML.

    Barry,

We are not using the MarketPress e-commerce plugin. We actually have all plugins disabled except WPML and ECP.

We tried the steps you suggested. Visiting the Permalinks page in the first browser temporarily fixes the problem in the second browser, but as soon as we switch from English to Spanish to English again in the second browser, the 404 errors return.

    Thanks!

    Barry,

We finally got a chance to do some more thorough testing.

First, you may disregard my earlier posts about the permalink structure causing 404 errors. We’ve done more testing and, as you suspected, the permalink structure itself is not the issue.

We determined the 404 issue was a result of switching between different translations of the website. We are using WPML to translate the site from English to Spanish. We encountered the 404 pages after switching from English to Spanish back to English. It just so happened that after about 30 minutes, our testing routine would lead us to switch from English to Spanish back to English and result in aforementioned 404 pages.

We did switch to the default Twenty Eleven theme and disable all plugins, but only after having switched back and forth from Spanish to English in our custom theme. This is why switching to the default theme and disabling all the plugins did not fix the 404 pages.

With that being said, Events Calendar Pro works perfectly so long as the language isn’t switched.

HOWEVER, we now have our test site set up with the default Twenty Eleven Theme, Events Calendar Pro 2.0.10, and WPML 2.6.0 and are running into the same 404 issue on the /events/month/ and /events/list/ and /events/category/ views as previously described. When we switch from English to Spanish to English anywhere on the website, the /events/month/ and /events/list/ and /events/category/ pages return 404s. You can see the issue here: fresh2.lanetest.com (I’ve just flushed the permalinks so it should work for you). It’s also worth noting that WPML is not translating any of the calendar components at all.

So, our new question is: Why do these English pages return 404 pages after a Spanish (or any other language) version of the website has been viewed?

    Thanks,
    B.

    Hi Barry,

Thanks for checking in and our apologies for not getting back to you. We haven’t had the chance to do further troubleshooting, but will post here when we get a chance this week.

    Thanks,

    Barry,

Yes, I’ve gone through the standard steps of disabling other plugins and reverting to a default theme with the same results.

Unfortunately, the problem is somewhat sporadic (see my first post) and only pops up after about 30-40 minutes or so. Once the 404 pages start showing up for /events/upcoming/ and /events/month/, the only way we’ve found to resolve the issue is to refresh/flush our permalink settings OR deactivate/activate the plugin.

Certainly sounds like an issue with the permalinks / permalink cache.

Thanks for checking with the devs. If you could also ask them if there’s any temporary workarounds for the issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again,
    B.

I see. That’s unfortunate, as it’s quite important to us and our clients to be able to use at very least /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/.

Could you offer any insight as to why ECP currently only works with /%postname%/ permalink structure and if/when support for custom permalinks will be offered in a future release?

    Thanks,
    B.
