I ended up creating a workaround for this issuee.

I found out that it is just the main event calendar/list that doesn’t work, but event categories work. So I made a “Mother” category that every single event has to go under, then subcategories under that. I now simply link to that on my nav menu. I never link to the main event calendar.

I looked around a lot of forums and it seems that this issue is quite widespread.

I have tried resetting my permalinks to default as well. When I do this I get the homepage but it is all messed up. My custom menus are gone and replaced with every single page.
