By de-activating all plugins and testing one by one I found that it was the “Restricted Site Access” plugin (used during development) that was creating the problem. Once I’ve removed that plugin, the page is showing as expected.

Thanks! The CSS method worked find for my needs.

It would be great if the Widget had a built in toggle for removing various meta info.
