January 25, 2016 at 12:11 pm in reply to: Updates overwrite customization – how to keep it? #1062062
Darryl
ParticipantI believe my issue is resolved.
One change I did make was to set Events -> Settings -> Display to “Full Styles”. This seems to maintain the look and feel as before, but with the bonus of picking up my custom stylesheet instead of using the default.
I tested it by modifying my custom stylesheet (tribe-events.css) under the new tribe-events folder under my theme and the changes did appear.
Thanks for the help,
Darryl

ParticipantOk, so I created a new folder “tribe-events” under my custom theme: /wp-content/themes/OTTAS
I also copied the file /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/default-template.php to that new folder.
The file I always need to update when Event Calendar updates come out is:
/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/resources/css/tribe-events-theme.min.cssSo I copied that file to a new file “tribe-events.css” also under the new “tribe-events” folder.
If I change the Events -> Settings -> Display -> ‘Default stylesheet used for events templates’ to “Skeleton Styles”, will only my custom css: /wp-content/themes/OTTAS/tribe-events/tribe-events.css be loaded?

ParticipantJos,
You’re right, that’s the way it works. You can only go as far forward as there are events.
It will work just fine as new events are added.
Case closed.

ParticipantAs our website is hosted, I cannot affect serverside caching. Clearing the browser side cache does not resolve the issue.
Can this issue be acknowledged at least as a known bug?

ParticipantThat did the trick. Thanks.
Darryl
ParticipantActually, there I installed a new update today – Events Calender 3.9.3. I noticed in the change log, this item:
“Ensured that rewrite rules are flushed upon plugin activation so event pages do not 404”
After the update, the 404 problem was corrected.
Darryl
ParticipantGot it!
Located the element in the-events-calendar\resources\tribe-events-theme.min.css:
.tribe-events-calendar td.tribe-events-present div[id*=tribe-events-daynum-]>a{background-color:#F8FC72}
Changed the background to the softer color above. 🙂
Thanks for your help.
Just an observation – why not include comments in the css to explain in plain language where these elements are being applied? Could reduce help desk questions. 🙂

ParticipantI had the wrong path as I am running Events Calendar Pro.
I assume one of the css files under: wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/resources/ will have the setting I need.
Can anyone point out the correct entry to change the background colour for the current day and the EXPORT MONTHS EVENTS buttons (and the other buttons)?
Thanks.
Darryl
ParticipantI forgot to mention, I did also disable the other plugins.
Darryl
ParticipantI changed the WordPress permalink from post name to date and then back again.
Calendar is now back where it should be. Coincidence? -
