Description
Many songwriters have shown themselves to be magnificent wordsmiths, and those whose tunes have that swinging jazzy feel have heard them interpreted by some of the great voices in popular music – think Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, through to more recent singers like Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux and Corrine Rae Bailey, and a few blokes, too! Dirty Bizness make it their business to bring you some of those songs in their own swingingjazzybluesy style. They HAVE got rhythm; get them under your skin. DOORS OPEN: 7.30pm. The friendly volunteer York House bar staff will be pleased to serve you real ale, wines, and soft drinks – the proceeds from which go to York House. TICKETS will be available locally and on-line in January, but for more information mailto:[email protected]. More information on the York House website: http://www.york-house.org.uk nearer the time.

Those naughty British kings in the 17th century got up to all sorts, as documented by Princess Michael of Kent. There will be readings from her books, and from those of Antonia Fraser and Samuel Pepys, with many interludes of delightful period music from Mr Simpson’s Little Consort. DOORS OPEN: 7.30pm. Enjoy a snifter at the York House bar – the proceeds from which go to York House, enabling us to provide the room for free. TICKETS will be available locally in January as well as at the door or perchance by email: mailto:[email protected] . More information on the York House website: http://www.york-house.org.uk nearer the time.
