ParticipantHey eventscalendar people,
I have been using the events calendar for a couple of years now and must say that I am very happy with it. Until recently when i installed the yoast seo lug-in and can not for the life of me get rid of that archives description in my calendar.
I don’t have enough php skills to really go into detail on anything, but I have tried the solution to copy the php code into the functions.php file of my theme but that just breaks the calendar. I have also tried to install the code as a plugin as shown but that does not work either.
If anybody could help me please? I would like to renew my licence but like this it obviously doesn’t work.
Thank you in advance.

MemberGood afternoon Jason and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic. As you have mentioned, the correct approach to solve this issue is to use a snippet.
More specifically, you need to apply the snippet found at the bottom of this page in the functions.php file of your theme (without the PHP tag at the top): https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/titles-in-yoast-seo/
If you are struggling with this, perhaps I could take a look at your theme.
Could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.
Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates or customizations you might have made.Hang in there!

ParticipantHi Geoff,
thank you for your help. This is what is going on with the website as it is now:
http://www.justjason.nl/calendar/
And if I add the snippet to the functions.php I get a http error 500 notification that the website can not display the page.
This is the link to the theme I use: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxvG-eNee321bTFmSEJuTFNYazQ/view?usp=sharing
Maybe it is too late over here and I am too tired to see it, but I can’t see the option to make this reply private.
Thanks again,
Jason

MemberGood afternoon Jason,
Thank you for writing back.
Actually, the reason the private reply is not available is because your premium licenses have expired. In any case, I tested things out, and it turns out the issue is not caused by Yoast, but rather by your theme.
More specifically, this comes from /wp-content/themes/brooklyn/partials/hero-archive.php if you replace “Archives” by “Events” on that line, you should be fine.
Have a good weekend,
Geoff B.
