GuestGreetings
I’ve seen several topic about a year view but none that actually came up with a viable solution. Has there been any development regarding this or do I have to code my own solution?
Regards,

GuestUpon reading and researching, it seems I’ll need a Custom View, and not only a modified version (or themed version) of the Month view.
I also haven’t seen any “code” on how to register a custom view. I could fiddle a lot with the core code, but I’d rather keep it into my child theme and have future update breaks my work later down the road.
Any suggestion?

MemberHi,
Thanks for using our plugins. We do not have the year view on our roadmap so we do not have any development news on that.
We did have a tutorial on making a new view, however, due to changes in the plugin it is no longer working and needs to be updated after we release 3.10.
The customer in this thread:
Is working on creating a year view using a shortcode you maybe to take what they started and make it work for what you are looking for.
Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks

GuestGreetings
Thanks for the reply.
My client wants to have all months displayed for the whole year (she actually really wants only 9 months to show, but I’ll figure this later down the road), but she wants to see a small version of the Month view (ie. smaller, so we could fit 3 on the width of the page).
I’ll check out that shortcode idea, hopefully it’ll have enough documentation to make it happen! π

GuestSo I checked out the ShortCode idea, got it working… But can I use that to make it display a full “Month” view, for each months from start to end date?
Surely there is a way to “include” (or that might just be it, a simple include… I’ll try it after that post) the Month view so it repeats itself for every months…

MemberI think it is quite the challenge to show a Year View as 12 Mini Calendars and unfortunately, there is not much we can do to help on a customization of that size.

GuestThat doesn’t sound like good news! π
Can you perhaps pinpoint me in the correct direction regarding this : Can I include or Call for a Month view directly from any template file?
That way, I could perhaps load a themed month view (of the correct size and with correct CSS) and display 1 month, and loop the other months after it?

MemberYeah sorry for the bad news it is just beyond the support we can provide on customizations.
Plus this is so far out from what the plugin does it is just guesses on how to make this work so it would take a lot of trial and error to get it working.
You can try to go into the view directory of the plugin and pull the get template functions and see if you can get that to work.
the-events-calendar\views\default-template.php
That is where I would start with this.

GuestWhat about configuring a custom view? There was that old Agenda View that is now deprecated, that could register a custom view…
Are there any documentation about that?
March 10, 2015 at 11:43 am #947340Brian
MemberThe Agenda Tutorial was removed as it no longer works and we are in the middle of a refactoring of our coding so we are unable to create a new tutorial to replace that one until that is finished. Hopefully after we release 3.10 we can update that tutorial and create a new one.
For now all our documentation is here:

GuestI didn’t ask, but do you have some ETA on the 3.10 release? I really want to have that custom view and I’m a bit waiting on the tutorials for that. π
March 16, 2015 at 11:42 am #948642Brian
MemberAll I can saw is it is in testing and we hope it in a couple months. We cannot release any more information then that until 3.10 is ready to be released as we do not want to have someone rely on a release date and then we miss it.

GuestI understand… It’s to be released :
SOONβ’Hehehe! I’ll check out with my client about his custom views but since we sold the idea to him in the beginning, it might be hard to retract on this. I’ll see if I can come up with a solution to the year view problem.

MemberYep Pretty Much π
I will push in our meetings to get our custom views tutorial updated.
And I am going to close this ticket, but if you need anything else related to this topic or another please post a new topic on the forum and we can help you out.
Thanks
