We recently had two sites go down due to WP Spider repeatedly going into the Event Calendar Pro plugin and doing excessive calls. This caused the CPU usage of our hosting sites to go through the roof and the hosting company shut the site down for days. Please make a note of this issue and let us know if there is some way to prevent this spam bot from affecting the Event Calendar Pro plugin.

    Hi Marcy,

I’m sorry you had such problems.

I don’t have any particular knowledge of “WP Spider” but if you are able to identify this particular user agent and it is, as you say, a spam bot (so not something you want to encourage in the first place) perhaps you could block it altogether?

Your host may be able to help you out there and put a rule in place to block it.

    Would that be viable here?

Hi! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
