ParticipantHi there,
I have been dealing with this issue for a time, browsing forums and the web, but I seems I cannot find the right solution.
I use the TEC Pro plugin for my agenda in my Jupiter theme. My Jupiter theme has the ability to show related posts below published blog posts as well to use a related posts widget in my sidebar.
I have activated both options (see below and right side): http://www.spiritueleverlichting.nl/de-theorie-praktijk/totale-kennis-pakket/zelfonderzoek-wat-is-dat/
However, the only related posts that are shown are events. The default WordPress functionality is that is shows related items from the same category and if there is no related post available in the category, it will use the latest post(s). This is how it should work in theory π
However, whatever I do, it keeps showing events from the TEC Pro plugin in my non-event posts. I even have the option to choose a category to pick related posts from in my widget, but it keeps showing events. Very frustrating.
When I disable the plugins TEC and TEC Pro, the problem is gone.
Is there any way to solve this issue by adding some script to functions.php for example? Or another work-around?
Thanks.

ParticipantHey Bark,
Thanks for reaching out.
Since that related posts functionality is coming from your theme, it sounds like the related posts query code in your theme is not correctly selecting post types to pull from. So events are being pulled in erroneously.
I do not know why this happening, and would encourage you to reach out to the Jupiter theme support team for assistance with that problem.
We cannot assist much with software that we do not make, and I cannot guarantee that I can fix this problem. But: email me at support at theeventscalendar.com with a link back to this forum thread for reference. Attach a .zip of your theme and your child theme if you are using a child theme, and I will try to identify the problematic code.
Like I said, I cannot guarantee a positive outcome here and your best course of action is to contact the Jupiter support team.
But I will take a look and see what I can find! π

ParticipantHi George,
Thansk for helping me out and making such a sweet offer π With regard to Jupiter theme support, they state that the related posts functionality is based on the default WordPress functionality, and therefore it is ‘my problem’ basically. I can have the problem fixed by hiring somebody from their company to rewrite the coding π
If you would like to take a quick look into it, that would be awesome. And if you find nothing, then it is what it is, which is also OK.
Thank you in advance, I will send you an e-mail.

ParticipantThanks Bark!
I don’t see an email with that attached theme in our inboxβyou might not have sent it yet, of course. But I just had issues with email delivery with another customer who was sending in their theme, so even if you did send that theme over email, it might not have reached our inbox. π
Can you upload your theme and any child themes to CloudUp.com, then share a link to the CloudUp uploads here? I will download them and take a look.
Thanks for your patience here! I am happy to take a look so that, even if I cannot fix things, you can proceed with hiring someone or other means with the confidence that it’s worth the money because a quick fix or simple tweak isn’t possible…in other words, that something more complicated is required.
Cheers!

ParticipantHi George,
I guess someone/thing is interfering with us π
I uploaded the file via WeTransfer.

ParticipantThanks Bark,
I have made a slight modification to a template within the theme. This modification should limit the “related posts” items to only items of the “post” or “page” post type — not events.
You can download the modified theme here β https://cloudup.com/cfwPBjy-nki
I hope this helps!
