Hello there! Over the past few months our website back-end load speeds have been getting longer. (Not front-end, fortunately.)
The long load persists on only 2 pages in the Admin Dashboard: Events and Products.
The load times will be 45-90 seconds when calling the Events Post List. Sometimes this causes an error 502 server time-out.
Our hosting provider, WP Engine, dug deep and found this:

Also when drilling deeper into the issue, Im also seeing a lot of calls to the WP_Posts_List_Table query.
In his testing, these calls took 30+ seconds.
I can provide back-end access if requested. Thanks!

It turns out we set Show Posts limit to 999. There were about 75 events, so it was loading data for all those events, even though we only have 10 upcoming. This was certainly causing the slow loading times!
We restricted the Show Limit to 15 posts per page on the Admin Post List, and sure enough it cut the loading time to 1/4th of what it used to be!
Thanks. Have a great week! 🙂
