ParticipantHello,
I recently updated my theme (Total by WPExplorer) to its current version as well as WordPress to 4.7.2 and have experienced an issue with the Theme Customizer tool (not loading left menu nor live preview). I have deactivated all of the plugins one by one and have determined that the Events Calendar & Calendar PRO plugins are the cause. I performed the updates on a developmental site prior to updating on my client’s site just for this reason. My client and I are both really happy with your plugin and want to continue using if it “plays” nice with the Total theme. Could you please look into why your plugin(s) are causing this problem?February 6, 2017 at 3:04 pm #1230215George
ParticipantHey Robert,
I’m sorry to hear about this! This may be related to a bug we recently identified and are working hard on fixing. To help see if this is the case, can you see if any errors pop up on your site if you head to your site’s wp-config.php file and change this line of code:
define('WP_DEBUG', false);to this:
define('WP_DEBUG', true); That will display PHP errors if any exist, which might be quite useful here.
If any PHP errors do show up, can you copy the full text of them and paste that text here in your reply?
Thanks!

ParticipantHello George,
Per your response to my Event Calendar / WP Customizer issue, I changed the
wp-config.php file to debug. However, I did not get any PHP errors, but do
continue to get script errors. I have attached several files (text &
screenshots) which are indicated when I click on “Debug Script” on the
Unresponsive Script popup. Hopefully, this will help you in
troubleshooting. If you need to log-into the back-end (Admin/Dashboard), I
can send you a Username & Password.Again, we are very pleased with your plugin and want to continue to use if
we can sort out the customizer issue. Thanks again and I look forward to your response.

ParticipantHey Robert,
Thanks for reaching out, and for doing that testing with WP_DEBUG!
I have good news and bad news here.
The bad news is that our developers have actually been able to identify a bug here, and so I can confirm that in some cases these fatal errors with the Customizer are arising. It is not just an issue with your site.
I’m very sorry to bear news about this bug!
The good news, in a way, is the fact that, now that we’ve confirmed the existence of a bug, our developers are actively working on a fix. Fixes like this usually arrive within 1 to 2 weeks’ time from their initial discovery, if everything goes to plan.
Stay tuned to this threadβI will mark it “pending fix” and will update it with news about the arrival of the bug fix.
Please let me know if there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with in the meantime!
Sincerely,
GeorgeFebruary 10, 2017 at 7:50 am #1232811Robert
ParticipantHello George,
I just wanted to follow-up with you to see if you received my email (with
attachments sent on Wed 2/8) regarding your plugin’s conflict with the
Wordpress Customizer Tool? Do you need more info from me? Would it help
to log-into my Admin area?February 10, 2017 at 8:56 am #1232926George
ParticipantIndeed I have, Robert! π The attachments you added did not get posted, but the text of your reply did.
Did you see my response to that very reply? I submitted my reply yesterday, 2/9.
Cheers!

ParticipantHello George,
I just wanted to touch base and see if a fix has been developed for the bug you had noted in your Feb 9th response? I’d like to get this resolved on my client’s website as soon as possible. I’d appreciate any updates that you may have.
Thank you!

ParticipantHello George,
I just wanted to follow-up with you to see if a fix has been developed for the bug you had noted in your Feb 9th response (my initial support question was submitted way back on Feb 6th)? It has been over a month since you indicated that developers at Modern Tribe were working on a solution to this known bug. I believe that I’ve been very patient with “you” regarding this issue and I’m becoming concerned that no fix will ever be achieved. Could you please look into this and let me know the status as I may have to investigate other plugin alternatives.
Thanks,

ParticipantHey Robert,
I’m very sorry for my failure here; we did, in fact, publish a Maintenance Release that should include fixes for the errors with the WordPress Customizer.
I failed to update this thread and apologize for that.
Whenever updates are available, you should always update to them, as bug fixes are included in updates.
I would recommend the following steps:
1. First, head to theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads and view the most recent version numbers for any and all plugins you have there. Confirm that the versions of each plugin on your site match the highest version numbers on that Downloads page.
2. If any of the plugins on your site are out-of-date, update them to the highest version number available.
3. Once all of your plugins are up-to-date, do issues with the WordPress Customizer persist? Let us know what you find.
Thanks!

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!

MemberHi! This should have been resolved in our 4.4 release. If you believe that is not the case and are experiencing the same issue with our latest releases, please do open a new forum topic to let us know: one of the team will be only too happy to assist further π
