ParticipantThe widget on the site is set to display the next 5 upcoming events, but it won’t show anything beyond the current month. Am I missing something in the setup? We would like it to show the next 5 events selected no matter when they show up.
Note 1: I found this post “FAST FORWARD TO THE NEXT UPCOMING EVENT” – but it didn’t work:

Thanks for the help!

MemberHi!
That’s actually by design, if you are referring to the calendar widget (which is what I see on your site, albeit it appears to have been customized to remove the calendar grid itself). If you want something more like a running list of upcoming events that are not bounded by a given month please use the list widget instead 🙂

Aug. 13, 2013 – https://theeventscalendar.com/fast-forward-to-the-next-upcoming-event/Yes – that needs to be updated. We’ve left it in place, though, as some users may still wish to take and use the code as the basis of their own foundation (and we will of course do our best to get round to updating it).
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks for the prompt reply. Just to clarify – we wanted to use a widget where we could select items from a category (or tag) to get the “top 5” to display. Is that do-able with the list widget?

MemberYes – you can certainly limit the list widget to just a single category and we will be adding more complete filters (as the calendar widget currently has) in a future release 🙂

ParticipantBarry, thanks again. It does work, though the look is very basic. The church staff liked the “date” icon and information, is that something that can be done with the list widget? Example: http://stpaulsdelray.org/images/ecp-display1.jpg

MemberDefinitely – you have complete freedom to customize just about anything the plugin outputs, including widgets 🙂
Check out this Themer’s Guide for some of the basics.

MemberPleasure 🙂
I’ll go ahead and close this thread – but if we can help with anything else please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed.
Good luck!
