ParticipantI have a widgetized footer on my site but when I place the widget in the footer, it seems to run over into the other columns. My footer has 3 widgets and it only displays properly when I place the Events list widget on the Right but when it’s in the middle or the left, it runs over the column width and into the other widget areas. Please help.

ParticipantHi robpoole,
Looks like you meant this for the PRO forum rather than the Pre-Sales forum. I’ll move it over there to get you the assistance you are looking for.

MemberHi @robpoole,
I can’t actually view your site – seems it is password protected – but it basically sounds like a CSS issue. I’m afraid it’s difficult to provide much more guidance without seeing it with my own eyes, as it were. Our Themer’s Guide provides some insight into setting up your own event-specific CSS rules, so that could be worth a read here.
I hope that helps, but if not please respond with a link where I can see the problem and I’ll happily take another look 🙂

MemberThanks (and please note I removed your credentials as an added precaution): what I notice here is that your footer widget seems to be divided into three columns.
The first two columns, left and centre, are wrapped in a div.one_third element and my guess is that is necessary to properly constrain them but, for some reason, the final right-hand column which you have used for the events widget is not similarly constrained – div.one_third is missing.
I’m unsure why that would be and wonder if it could actually be an intentional facet of your theme (perhaps it is expected some other widget will be positioned there and has rules in place to target it especially)? With that in mind, would it be possible for you to try relocating the events widget to the left or centre columns and see if this problem still occurs?
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks. I tried that and still an issue. The only way it seems to work is when I put the Mail Chimp Stay In Touch Widget next to the Events Calendar Widget cause it seems to stop the Events from running over into another column. So for example, if the order of the Widgets from left to right was Latest News, Mail Chimp, and Events Calendar, the calendar would be constrained to that third column by the div or whatever is containing the Mail Chimp sign up form. Please take a look now as I have moved the widget for you to see to the Middle position and it’s still broken.

MemberThat is strange. Do you find the same thing if you change theme/turn off other plugins? So far as I can see, we are correctly accepting and outputting any markup passed in to the widget by the theme that is intended to ‘wrap up’ the widget, yet at the same time of course every other widget seems to have markup surrounding it that ours is missing.
What theme are you using and are you able to share a copy?

ParticipantI am using Industrial theme by CMS Masters. I have not tried going to standard theme and turning off plug ins. Could that make me lose any settings or content on the site that I have build? I am hesitant to do that unless there shouldn’t be any issue with losing all we have already done.

MemberYou shouldn’t lose any content – occasionally though you may have to do some work in terms of restoring menus and the arrangement of widgets in the sidebar (and so we always recommend backing up first of all).
You can certainly run through those steps – my suspicion is that this will only show up with your theme, though, and so leaving that activated and deactivating other plugins (except The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO) and seeing if that makes any difference is probably a good way to go initially.

ParticipantOk, so if we conclude that it only shows up in my Theme, what is the method for fixing it? Or does your support not cover that? We are hoping to launch this site in a week so I need to resolve this issue pretty soon.

MemberGenerally speaking we do not cover that, but in this case I’d definitely be interested in taking a closer look just as a precaution in case there is indeed something we could improve upon. Are you able to share your theme as a downloadable .zip?
February 17, 2014 at 4:37 pm #105629robpoole
ParticipantOk, how do I do that? I cannot post the Theme .zip file here. Let me know and I will get it to you ASAP. Thanks.

MemberSure – the best approach is to upload it to a service like Dropbox or Droplr (or equivalent) … or even just to your WordPress site – then share the link. We appreciate you may not wish to post a link to a commercial theme publicly, but do remember you can use the private reply feature.
Thanks!
