I have two questions:
– Does the free version have any widgets that can be used with shortcodes?
– How do I localize The Events Calendar?

Hi, Albert. Thanks for your interest in our plugin suite.

You could use one of our plugin’s widgets or shortcodes. Some are available in the free The Events Calendar but have enhanced functionality with Events Calendar PRO. Other ones are only available with PRO.

We have this information regarding translations:

• Translating the premium plugins
• Translating The Events Calendar (free/core plugin)
• How to Override Plugin Language Files (custom language files on your own site)
• Customizing/Changing any bit of text (actual code snippet is at the very bottom) — or using the Say what? plugin (third-party, not guaranteed or supported by us) might be easier to setup and use to do the same thing as our provided code snippet

I don’t believe any of the shortcodes are available in the free version, just widgets.

We do offer https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/list-venues-and-organizers-shortcodes/ for free, along with many other free extensions.
