ParticipantHello. We’ve been using The Events Calendar for a few years now with no issues. However, a couple of weeks ago I upgraded both The Events Calendar, The Events Calendar Pro and WordPress to the latest versions. When I did so, I got a white screen of death. I disabled my plugins folder and was able to get WordPress back up, and found that it was The Events Calendar causing the white screen. If I try to activate it, I get a white screen and I have to go into my FTP to change the name of Events Calendar to get WordPress back working on the admin side. I had my server company go in and do a server clean and optimization for me ($200 worth) and this helped a lot of things but did not fix my issue with the calendar plugin. The plugin is installed, but not activated at the moment. We’ve been using the same theme for 3 years now and done many updates to The Events Calendar with no issues.
What should I do? Thanks for your help!

MemberHi Corey,
I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough experience, I can only imagine some sort of conflict is going on. There are a few possible strategies we might use here.
The first is to edit your wp-config.php file and set WP_DEBUG to true, then try updating again. You can almost certainly expect it to fail, given what you have described, but this should at least result in getting some meaningful error messages – rather than a blank screen – which you could then share with us (the downside is of course that you’d need to do the same directory name change to restore things).
Alternatively, you could start by deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default theme and then try activating the latest version of The Events Calendar – if it works, it may be that a plugin or theme conflict is at work.
One other thought is that the copy of The Events Calendar on the filesystem may, for whatever reason, have been corrupted or be incomplete. If you’re happy working with FTP, it could be worth removing it and manually uploading a fresh copy obtained from the WordPress plugin directory.
Does that give you enough to work with? If you do hit further problems please just let me know and we’ll be happy to assist as best we can 🙂

MemberHi! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
