ParticipantHi there,
I have created a site for a client and when the site went live, it was working perfectly. A few weeks later, the site started to become real slow in loading times until eventually its almost impossible to view unless you refresh a few times and keep getting the white screen of death. This happens with every page including the dashboard.I advised the client to speak to her server customer service and they came to this conclusion:
“It’s not about the server. Something is using up all the memory, and the error log points to the file wp-db-.php (the database). We saw 2,500 posts — which most likely seem to be related to the way the Events Calendar is set up. The calendar is not adding unique tables to the database. It might help to add more categories to the Events, such as months.
The plug-in for the calendar (php-ini) is set at 128 MG, which is the normal setting — if the plug-in itself for some reason requires that number to be higher, Host Monster can increase it, but it seems more likely that it’s the way the calendar is configured that is creating the issue.”
I would appreciate help with this as this site has been this way for almost 3 weeks now and it’s affecting the company!
Thanks!

MemberHi jdoimeadios23,
I’m sorry you (and your client) are experiencing issues.
I’d love to get a few more insights into the size and shape of your content and how you are presenting it. Can you tell me:
- How many events in total you have (you can normally find this out by looking at the main list of events within the admin environment – there will be a could for the total number of events near the top)?
- Approximately how many are recurring in nature?
- How many other posts (ie blog posts and pages) do you have, approximately?
- If you visit Events → Settings → Display can you tell me the value of the month view events per day setting?
- I do see you already tried deactivating other plugins: if possible can you follow this through and also switch over to a default theme, as per our complete troubleshooting steps … does that make any difference?
(As an aside, it looks as though a caching or minification plugin that you are running may be interfering with the way some pages like month view display.)
Let me know how you get on!

MemberHi! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
