ParticipantHello,
I run a non-profit site that has numerous events, but only a few in which we charge. I would like to do the following but not sure which plugins I need to accomplish:
1. Color code events to distinguish between ours and others
2. Registration page & multiple packages to sell for each event.
3. I see there are many different themes shown on your Products page for ECP. Are these done within the Pro version or do I have to install other plugins. If other plugins, where is the best place for those you recommend? Thanks

ParticipantHey David,
Thanks for reaching out. I will address each of your questions as follows:
1. Color code events to distinguish between ours and others
This is not something any of our plugins do by default. There are two ways to do this. The first way is to use a well-made third-party plugin called The Events Calendar Category Colors, which provides this functionality based on the categories of the events. It’s available for free here. The only other way to do this would be to write custom CSS on your site that modifies the styles for events as you see fit. We cannot help with writing custom CSS, so you would have to write the CSS on your own or hire a professional to do so for you.
2. Registration page & multiple packages to sell for each event.
Our ticketing plugins do not have a separation “registration page”—they simply add a ticket purchase form to the bottom of events. Now, if you use WooCommerce to power the actual eCommerce and cart aspect of your site, then yes, you can require users to log in to buy tickets, or register for a new user account if they don’t have one already.
When it comes to “multiple packages”, our ticketing plugins allow multiple ticket types. But to be clear, these are rather basic. For example, if you wanted to sell tickets to movies for Adults at $25 per ticket, but then offer a “Senior Discount” ticket type that is only $15, and then a “Student Discount” ticket type for $20 per ticket, then yes our ticketing plugins do allow this. You can create a different ticket type for each type of ticket. However, there is no “packages” feature, bundles, or anything like that.
3. I see there are many different themes shown on your Products page for ECP. Are these done within the Pro version or do I have to install other plugins. If other plugins, where is the best place for those you recommend?
Themes are not provided by Events Calendar Pro—Events Calendar Pro is a plugin, and so on any of the websites you see on the product page, most of the styling is provided by the site’s theme. We do not sell or make themes, so you would indeed have to explore other places to buy a theme that looks good for you.
To find a good theme, stay away from marketplace sites like ThemeForest and such. The code quality is too disparate among the items available and these themes cause many problems.
Also avoid any sort of “Visual Composer” theme, or any sort of “custom options framework” theme that promises hundreds of layouts and thousands of options and all sorts of widgets and bells and whistles.
Go for simple themes with stellar code quality. These are some places where you can find great themes of this variety:
• http://wordpress.org/themes (yes, the free WordPress themes repository!)
• http://woothemes.comI hope this helps!
Cheers,

ParticipantOk, so after review, here are some follow-ups:
CATEGORY COLORS
I have couple dozen events but only a hand full are our group events which are all titled differently, though some are repeating monthly (meetings) or annual recurring events.1. I selected all the group related events and color coded them exactly the same. It did not change the calendar view of those events, but it did change all other events to a grey box/black text.
2. Is there a way to categorize all our events as one legend so to minimize the list view on calendar?
3. Is there a way to just have 1 legend show on calendar for our events only?
4. Do I have to set up ignore code for all other events not color coded or can i just leave them blank?TICKETING:
I want to accomplish two things with registration:1. Collect info for future emarketing like newsletters, emails, etc.
2. Require the registrant to read an event disclaimer, have a check box to acknowledge acceptance of disclaimer or additional verbiage like “By signing this form….. or Completing registration, you agree….”
3. Select a package or have list of options to select and it will auto total. For example, we do motorcycle ride events that have registration fees for rider, passenger, lunch only, ride shirt.Given these details what product would you recommend to facilitate this as simply as possible? Would a printable ticket be a better tracking system over printing a list of all online registrants for checkin?
Thanks in advance for your help.

ParticipantHey David, thanks for your followup.
Category Colors
For your Category Colors-related questions, I unfortunately do not know the answers to these questions because we do not make the Category Colors. I would recommend posing your questions to the author of that plugin which you can do on the support forums for that plugin. You can find those forums here → https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar-category-colors/
Ticketing
1. Collect info for future emarketing like newsletters, emails, etc.
Our ticketing plugins generate an Attendees list for events—this is the list of the folks who will be attending, and contains their name and email and posssibly other information.
Our plugins themselves do not have any integration with “emarketing” things, but you can export the Attendees List to some other application that does, and use that information from there.
2. Require the registrant to read an event disclaimer, have a check box to acknowledge acceptance of disclaimer or additional verbiage like “By signing this form….. or Completing registration, you agree….”
If you choose to use WooCommerce to power your actual payment processing and such, then WooCommerce itself is where you would have to configure something like a “disclaimer” that needs to be checked before a purchase can be completed. If you are curious for more information about WooCommerce and how a feature like this might work within it, check out the WooCommerce site and documentation which are available here → https://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/
3. Select a package or have list of options to select and it will auto total. For example, we do motorcycle ride events that have registration fees for rider, passenger, lunch only, ride shirt.
Our ticketing plugins to not have a feature for this, unfortunately. I’m sorry to bear that news. It may be possible through some other means, like with WooCommerce settings or extensions, but I do not know if that is possible or how. 🙁 It is not something possible “out-of-the-box” with our own ticketing plugins, though.
In closing, you ask this:
Would a printable ticket be a better tracking system over printing a list of all online registrants for checkin?
This question is one that only you can answer for yourself, based on what’s easiest for you and what your needs are. For what it’s worth, our ticketing plugins allow for both methods of doing things. It sounds like the online tracking of attendees and check-ins will be valuable to you for your needs/desires of using that information for future marketing and email newsletters and such.
I hope this all helps!
