Memberhello, i’m using wordpress, buddypress, e-cal-pro and the community events add-on for a german website. so far some words turn out english although i installed wordpress in german as well as buddypress, and the ec-pro and the community events plugin are supposed to adapt to wordpress or buddypress language settings, i’m not sure if that’s for sure 100%. does anybody know which language file (pot/po/mo) i have to work at to get a proper german translation of my site? For example at http://cowelenz.de/wordpress/freizeit-tipps-koblenz/community/add german umlauts (ä,ö,ü) are not shown, or if i hover “Veranstaltungen” in the header (the german word for events) things scrolling up are still shown in english. ??? (also, the right sidebar and the main part of the page at http://cowelenz.de/wordpress/freizeit-tipps-koblenz/ are a little too small, so that the calendar and the mini calendar are cut off a little, how can i adjust that?, but that might be an extra topic)

MemberHi Rainer, thanks for getting in touch. I have to put my hands up straight away: I am not a localization guru. I will do my best to help you, though.
The translations pertaining to Community Events can be found in that plugin’s “lang” directory. The German translation for instance is contained within:
the-events-calendar-community-events/lang/tribe-events-community-de_DE.po
Here is one of the strings you referred to http://pastebin.com/vabt9tit and yes it looks like it is devoid of any special characters. As I understand it these should be represented as HTML entities such as:
& E u m l ;(I spaced those out to avoid the forum software from interpreting that as a capital E with umlaut.) If you were able to send any corrections to us that you might make to [email protected] I am sure your contribution would be gratefully received.

MemberHi again Rainer.
Regarding the fact that “View Calendar” displays in English (under Veranstaltungen in your admin toolbar) I think this is simply because the necessary translation hasn’t been made in:
the-events-calendar/lang/tribe-events-calendar-de_DE.po
This would need to be added. We pretty much rely on community contributions for our translations, so once again if you find yourself adding to this then please do feel free to get in touch with us with a copy of your changes.
Regards,
Barry

MemberThanks for replying, barry. i have changed the translations in the file as you suggested, but nothing has changed. could there be another language file that is decisive, or do i have to re-write the corresponding mo.file as well?

MemberThe corresponding .mo file needs to be changed too, and you would need a tool like poedit for that … I’m afraid this is really outside of the scope of support we can offer here – there are excellent overviews of this stuff in the WordPress Codex and elsewhere online however.
