ParticipantIf a customer has started the sales process with 10 tickets, and then decided to only get 9 when they hit the “view cart” step of the checkout process, woocommerce allows them to remove one of those items from their cart. ThisHow does the customer determine WHICH attached attendee information is deleted?
Or go the other way…. if a customer purchases 10 tickets, and while in the “view cart” section decides to ADD 3 tickets, where do they input in the attendee information for those tickets?
This seems a fatal flaw in the collection of patron data, and a likely culprit for receiving inaccurate or incomplete information.
It seems to me that it would make more sense to add the attendee information in the “view cart” phase, where the guest has finalized their quantity levels for purchase. Is it possible to move the attendee information to this phase, and thus circumnavigate the potential pitfalls expressed above?

MemberHi Mike.
I thought this snippet may come in handy for you — to make ticket quantity read-only in the Cart:
https://gist.github.com/cliffordp/66bf05df61ee269c60ff20d6f39e2cab
However, I see we have some related bugs logged internally:
- After adding ticket(s) to cart, then navigating back to the event using the Back button causes all info entered into attendee meta fields to be lost.
- When a user adds a ticket with attendee information to the cart, then either switches to another computer or loses session information, then the ticket stays in the cart, but the attendee information is lost.
I’d suggest testing if adding the readonly quantity snippet helps. If it doesn’t, please provide the steps to reproduce the bug you’d like me to log on your behalf.
Thank you.

ParticipantThe snippet does work, and I do have it active in my sandbox. But it still just side steps the primary issue, which is collecting attendee info too soon in the checkout process, before the purchase has been “finalized”.
As I stated in my other thread https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/how-do-i-skip-the-view-cart-phase-to-sidestep-missing-attendee-info-bugs/, a much more graceful patch would be to provide a way to skip the “view cart” phase entirely, this locking in the sale on the “single event page” and taking the customer immediately to the “checkout” phase.
For a permanent fix, I would suggest moving the Attendee Info collection into the “view cart” phase, and thus allowing customers the option of altering cart contents as they wish. However, it would have to be able to SAVE that data, so if the customer were to navigate away from the “view cart” page (they click on something else during the checkout process) and then return, the attendee info they already inputed should be saved and visible, so they don’t have to redo it.
I would even take this one step further, replicating the content from the attendee info underneath their cart items in the checkout phase. Then I would add a button under that info to “edit attendee info” that sends the customer BACK to the “view cart” page to make alterations, allowing a customer that made a mistake to back track and fix it, instead of having to redo the order entirely.
This option allows the most versatility, as a customer could have normal items and tickets in their cart and be able to checkout normally. The potential fix I suggested of skipping the “view cart” phase prohibits customers from being able to alter or remove ANYTHING from their cart once they finish entering in their attendee info on the single event page. Basically, they are locked into that order, and only have the choice of completing the purchase or abandoning the order entirely, which is far from ideal. Customer will make mistakes.

MemberThanks for your thoroughness. It’s definitely valid.
Please do add this (or maybe search to see if the idea was already posted by someone else) to our plugins’ UserVoice page.
This allows others who are interested in that feature to easily voice their support. We frequently review suggestions there to find out which ones are popular, then we implement as many of them as we can.
If you post it / find it, feel free to link to it from here in case anyone comes across this forum thread in the future.

ParticipantAgain I share the same sentiments as Mike because having the option to add attendee info but unable to edit or see the information afterwards is incomplete functionality. There should be a fix for this and not categorized as a nice to have or a bug. This is holding up a conference launch that I am currently working on because we have several different conference options so if they select more than one ticket they will need confirmation on what they purchased.

MemberHi there,
Just wanted to share with you that a new maintenance release (for the Week of 1st May 2017) is out, including a fix for this issue 🙂
Now attendee meta is saved alongside the WooCommerce cart session instead of just relaying on cookies. Hopefully this prevents issues with empty attendee information in the attendees report!
Find out more about the release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-week-1st-may-2017/
Please update the plugins and let us know if the fix works for your site,
Best,
