Weekly View some events showing as a blue bar with no text, others show fine?!?!

Hi there

I have a weird problem with my weekly events view …

1) some events show fine and others just show as a blue bar which will only show the event when you hover over you it. Other events on the calendar for that week show fine with a blue bar and title of event.

2) the ones which show a blue bar cannot be clicked on to then take you to the relevant event.

Firstly I thought it was only the Facebook events but a recurring event has snuck in there too so can’t say it is just the Facebook ones (although none of them do appear in weekly view – coincidence ??)

I did disable plugins and also changed theme and once chose 2011 I could see the blue bars (although there was not writing on any of them !) so am guessing it may be a theme thing?!?! Not sure though why it is only some events and not others?!?!?

I see what you mean about the blue bar. From what I can tell, they seem to be events with a start time but no end time. Is that the case? Or is the end time being affected too? When you go into the dashboard and edit the events, does an end time show up there, or is it just the front end?

Thank you so much for the quick response and yes you are right – that is the reason! I edited one of my recurring events to give a proper end time (it was in there the same time as the start time) and it showed up fine – BRILLIANT!

Only problem now though is the events imported in from Facebook don’t have an end time (they default to the same start time too) so is there a way of asking the weekly calendar to show the event even though that is the case? I really don’t want to check and edit the Facebook events every day?!?!? And then have to edit them …. It would also be quite useful as some of our events don’t have an end time anyway, they are not as structured as that?

Well, to our way of thinking all events have a start and end time, almost by definition. So the plugin really doesn’t handle events without end times. It has to put something in there. That’s why if there isn’t something specified in Facebook it’s going to put in the only time it has for that event which is the start time. I don’t think there’s a way around that and I’m not even coming up with a way to alter the code to force a new end time to be inserted. Maybe something like if start time = end time then end time = midnight or some such thing could be possible. But that would take some finesse with the code.

Honestly, I’m not seeing an easy solution to that one. Easiest would be to make sure that the events in Facebook have an end time. But it sounds like that’s not an option.

Ahh well – easiest thing as you say is to make sure the events have a start and end time Facebook end …. I have asked that that be the case so all ok now. Thanks again for your help and time, just so pleased it was easy to fathom the reason to the problem!
