    Hi..
We have corporate events that last for 3 weeks.
The events only take place on week days (not weekends).. but i cannot find a way to exclude the weekend days on the calendar.

Also. we are in the middle east. so we need to exclude ‘Friday / Saturday’ from calendar (not Saturday / Sunday).

Is the a way to do this with either existing settings / code customization, or a plugin? I am using the standard version, but would buy Pro if it solves the problem.

It’s totally confusing for customers, as they ALL think they need to come in 7 days a week!

    thanks
    steve

    Hi Steve,

So with PRO what you could do is create an event running from Monday to Friday, for example, and set it to recur every week for … however many weeks it goes on for – that would effectively leave weekends untouched.

Also. we are in the middle east. so we need to exclude ‘Friday / Saturday’ from calendar (not Saturday / Sunday).

Definitely possible – but there is no setting to help with this at this time, so it’s something where you would need to do a little customization work – whether modifying the month view templates or by hiding the relevant cells via Javascript, CSS or a combination of those.

Our Themer’s Guide provides a lot of basic information about customizing things in this way – but we’d also be more than receptive to a feature request (or if there is a suitable existing request, please add your support to that instead).

    Thanks!

    hi Barry.
    This is terrible.
If i do as you say and set it up as a ‘Recurring Event’ in pro, then it will just be several separate events or can they be linked? Our courses already reoccur every month.. so this will be very confusing.

Also we are hoping to sell the curses using the ticketing plugin.. (wootickets). I am guessing this will make that impossible??

It seems the plugin is focused on single day events.
It would really help you if you could cater for corporate (working day) events.
On the settings you could have ‘my event occurs only on these days’ then have a day list with tick boxes. Or options to set the weekend, and ‘exclude weekend’ as a tick box.

I will submit this as a feature request. it is beyond my skills to do the customization.

i put it as a feature request here:

but in the meantime my client will be kicking my ass about this!!

Apologies Steve, I completely omitted to describe our custom recurrence option which probably does provide a nice fit for your needs. You could specify the days of the week you wish the event to occur on, and make it recur for x weeks:

    Recurring events settings (custom pattern)

So that might actually meet your needs quite nicely 🙂

    Sorry for the confusion!

    Hi Barry
    Thanks for the reply.
Its close..but i think it wont work for all.
Our courses are not always ‘3 weeks’ long. They might be 8 days. Which means they have 5 days one week, and 3 days another.

Is there any way to do that??

also.. i guess the above are separate weekly events? ..or are they the same event?
If they are separate events, then it won’t work. As we already repeat the same courses monthly and this function would be good to automate our reoccurrence, but not to set up a single event, as one event i guess?

Yes – you should simply be able to set the start and end dates accordingly, you don’t need to start it on a Monday and end it on the final Friday three weeks later – you could end the pattern the following week on Wednesday instead.

If they are separate events, then it won’t work. As we already repeat the same courses monthly and this function would be good to automate our reoccurrence, but not to et up a single event, as one event i guess?

On that level it may not work, that’s true – and you’d need to workaround it by adding extra customizations, which could be as light as working in extra explanatory text or as deep as introducing a separate means of linking sets of events together.

We’ll definitely review your feature request though (and please do edit it/add extra notes if you need to clarify any aspects like this).

    Thanks!

So I am working through the same issue. I have two week events that only run on weekdays (Mon-Fri). I set it up as a one day event recurring for two weeks on M, Tu, W, Th and F. It now shows correctly in the monthly view, but now on the event page, and in other views, it shows the event date as just that single day, rather than the full date range (December 1st – 12th for example) for the event. Is there a solution for this? I can do minor code modifications if needed.

Also, the event is now showing up ten times, once for each day, under the list view. And it’s also showing up as a separate event for each day on the admin side. This will get crazy for us really quickly. Is there any other solution to exclude particular days from multi-day events?

I’m sorry we missed your replies, @ine, but unfortunately we’re only notified when the original poster updates the thread. For that reason it is always best to create a fresh thread of your own.

Quite a lot of time has passed at this point so I am going to go ahead and close this one – but please do feel free to create new threads as needed if you still require help.
