    Hi There,

    Hi There,

We are using the following plugins from The Events Calendar:-

    1. The Events Calendar
    2. The Events Calendar Pro
    3. Event Tickets
    4. Event Tickets Plus
    5. The Events Calendar Filter bar

We did an upgrade for the plugins last month, since that time we are facing Memory issues on the site. The CPU utilization of the server is also very unstable since the update. The site is loading very slow and there are huge number of Notices and Warnings in the error logs as well. There are serious performance issues with the weekly events widgets and upcoming events widgets.

We have already send the system information for our site earlier in the ticket raised. We have already enabled month display caching as mentioned in your Performance Consideration guide but no luck so far. This is slowing down the entire server and it’s affecting our business a lot.

We are facing the exact issue as mentioned here in this thread:-

It will be great if you guys can assist us with the rectification of these issues.

    Hello Irina!

Thanks for getting in touch with us!

I’m really sorry you are experiencing this issue. I know for myself that peformance issues are very hard to tackle, so let me try to help you with that.

You mentioned that the slow down in performance started 3 weeks ago, did it started all of a sudden? Do you remember any changes made in your site at that time? Any plugin, theme, or WP core updates, or even customization?

Could you please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG ? This will create a debug.log file inside the /wp-content directory.

After that, try navigating a few times into the pages where you are having the php notices and warnings, so that in case there is an error, it will be saved into the debug.log file. Please share that log file with us so we can see if they are related to this.

Also, how many events/posts are there in your site?

I know you’ve already gone through our Performance Considerations article, which is a great place to start. If you decide to implement a caching system then you can move to these articles: Caching: What, when and how and Caching month view HTML in transients

Finally, there is a good article George put up here that groups a set of developer plugins. It’s a bit more technical than the others but will definitely be of help if you are into development.

I hope that helps. Let me know how that goes and if you have any questions.

    Best,
    Victor

    Hello Irina!

Thanks for coming back with the debug.log file and all the information I asked.

The PHP notices I see are for a deprecated function and I don’t think is related to your performance issue.

Regarding the number of events, 3500 is a pretty big number of events to consider when taking into account the performance of your site. That said, I tried navigating through your main events calendar and I didn’t experience much delay, considering the amount of events per day you are currently showing.

You could try lowering the number of events per day to show in month view by going to Events > Settings > Display tab and changing the Month view events per day to perhaps 3 and see if it speed things up.

Are you having a slow down in performance in a specific page? If so, could you please share with us a link to it? This way, I can take a closer inspection and see if I can spot anything.

    Let me know about it.

    Best,
    Victor

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
