    Hi there,

    1. I have been asked if there is a way to toggle on or of the end time for events. Is this possible and if so what is the solution?

    2. In the admin list of events categories and or tags do not show as a way of filtering in the admin bar, is there a way to add this as there will be a very large amount of events with the best way to filter being by category?

I am also using your Advanced Post Manager which is great and really helps but again the option to filter by category or Add a Column is not there. With either way can Categories be added?

    Many thanks

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for the questions. We do try to stick to one issue per thread though – so let’s deal with the first question here and if you need help with anything else (like APM) please do create new threads and one of the team will be only too happy to help 🙂

Not as such – but can you confirm where you want this to happen? Is it only in the context of viewing a single event page that you wish to hide the end time – and is setting the end time so it is the same as the start time for any relevant events a workable solution?

    Hi Barry,

Im setting up a site for a sports organisation and the issue is that they often dont know the game time until the day before so I have added custom notes to let viewers know that they will be informed closer to the day however by still seeing a time only confuses things. At the moment we are looking at setting a best estimated time to start but when you dont have an end time showing the system currently sets the same time so you see two lots of the same time?

We also have Bye days where no time should be seen so on the individual events setting page or even better in the quick edit view on the events listing page it would be great to have a check box or drop down to > Hide time > Hide end time option.

    Hope that is clear.

    All the best

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Yep that clarifies things. I’m interested in this remark, though:

At the moment we are looking at setting a best estimated time to start but when you dont have an end time showing the system currently sets the same time so you see two lots of the same time?

That shouldn’t happen. If the end time is the same as the start time, only the start time should display. I tried to find an example on your site (using the URL you shared when you opened this thread) but it doesn’t seem like that relates to a WordPress-driven website … is there any way you can point me to a live example? Which views are you seeing this on (where the end time is displayed, despite being identical to the start time)?

    Thanks!

    Hi Barry,

Yep this is a random and depends on whether we import events via csv or manually enter an event. However today for some reason I have gone back in and when I click on an event it takes me back to the home page. I have tried several things here but all events when clicked on will take me back to the home page. I have deactivated all plugins except for events and still the same?

The site is live but the domain name is not delegated so you have to mask the IP in your Host file. For a mac I use a free app called Gas mask (Make sure the http:// is removed):

    182.160.156.20 http://www.isa.nsw.edu.au
    182.160.156.20 isa.nsw.edu.au

    Regards

    Hi Barry,

I found a thread about revisiting the permalinks and this did the job. The events are linking to the event page once more. As mentioned when I added the www it automatically added the http:// so make sure it doesnt show in the host file>

    Regards

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for the IP addresses.

At the moment we are looking at setting a best estimated time to start but when you dont have an end time showing the system currently sets the same time so you see two lots of the same time?

Just for the avoidance of doubt, do you mean start and end dates as opposed to start and end times?

When I view your upcoming events list I can indeed see that the start date and end dates are both displayed even though they are the same – this is also true within single event pages – is that the actual problem here?

If so, it looks like it may be a consequence of some customization work (the final HTML doesn’t look quite like what our plugin would normally generate) and in fact the div.meta-table element I see within single event pages is not something that would normally be present.

To confirm: is the problem only in relation to the event date within those customized sections of the templates? Or, if not, can you point me to a specific example?

    Thanks!

    Hi Barry,

Its both but more importantly the dual dates showing. Currently If I try to clear the end date it automatically sets to the same as the start date but want to only show the start date. Most of these events are only for a few hours others only for the day.

The theme has been optimised and has its own event template its called Gameplan ver. 1.3.11

Would it be best for me to contact their support? If so could you let me know what I need to tell them?

    Many thanks

Hi Peter – apologies in the first instance for the delay in responding – I was out-of-office for most of the week and unfortunately there wasn’t enough bandwidth across the team as a whole to reassign this.

If Gameplan ships with its own custom events templates (and perhaps further customizes things through it’s functions.php file or similar) and that is the source of the issue I’m afraid you’ll need to take it to the theme authors and seek help – I just don’t have sufficient knowledge of the theme to know what the problem might be.

Historically there have been some problems with Gameplan but nothing comes to mind that would be directly relevant in this situation, so perhaps this is something that has only just arisen?

    Hi Barry,

I have been spinning around and around with the developers and they are no closer to getting a resolution which is very frustrating. Is there any way you could point me in the direction of where I need to be looking to resolve this double dating and time issue(s) as I need to get it fixed?

    Many thanks

Well, let’s start with the possibility that the issue lies within custom events templates. Can you look at your theme and see if there is a directory called tribe-events within it?

If there is, can you try renaming it (temporarily) to __tribe-events?

This will effectively make them invisible and so on one hand the appearance of your events pages will change back to their defaults, but it would also help us to confirm if this is where the problem lies.
