My organization had purchased Facebook events and it expired in April 2015
I am the new admin for the WordPress site and am having trouble updating the events calendar so think it may be because I used to have Event Calendar Pro but am not sure. I have been able to find info that we had Facebook events. Can someone clarify what I did have, or do have and which product would best suit my needs now? http://www.hilllibrary.org
I am new to WordPress and new in this organization. No one knows anything about the website or the accounts so I am trying to piece it together on my own.

Howdy @hilllibrary and welcome to the forums!

I checked your account and it looks like you had been using the Facebook Events plugin with The Events Calendar. The Events Calendar is our core (and free) plugin that allows you to create, edit and manage events in a calendar format on your WordPress site and Facebook Events allows you to import events from Facebook into WordPress so they are displayed in the calendar.

Your Facebook Events license has indeed expired. You are absolutely able to renew it if you still want to continue importing events from Facebook into The Events Calendar and can do so by logging into this site and heading to My Account > Licenses. Here are more detailed instructions for how that works.

I do want to note that we just released a new product last week called Event Aggregator that does the same thing as Facebook Events but also includes the ability to import events from other sources as well. Event Aggregator will likely replace Facebook Events in the future, so it would give you an early jump on that transition.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions here and I’d be happy to help as best I can. 🙂

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Hi Thanks for the info Geoff. I think I would rather purchase the Event Calendar Pro since it can link with FB at no extra charge, right? I can’t afford to buy Events Calendar and the FB Plug in. SO if I buy the Event Calendar Pro will I be able to share events, ie posts will be posted to both the events calendar and the FB calendar without having to manually add them. Also with Event Calendar pro I can input recurring events, right?

    Thanks again for the help.

I am woking at a little bitty library and the person who set this all up disappeared so I am trying to piece it all back together.

Gee, I have never had so much trouble trying to buy something. I would like to purchase Event Calendar but still don’t know if I should buy Event Calendar or the FB Events Plug
in which is what I had before. Could someone who wants to sell me a product get back to me asap.
I have to get this done today.

    Hi Amy,

Thanks for following up and sorry for any confusion from my last reply.

You had Facebook Events but not Events Calendar PRO. That means you ought to renew your Facebook Events license if you want to continue importing events from Facebook into WordPress.

Here are detailed instructions on how to renew your Facebook Evetns license:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/renewing-your-license/

Facebook Events is the only plugin you need to purchase/renew. The Events Calendar is a free plugin and is already installed on your site. Facebook Events adds the functionality you need to import events from Facebook into The Events Calendar.

I hope this helps clear things up but please do let me know if you have follow-up questions and I would be more than happy to help.

    Thanks,
    Geoff

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
