Is it possible to create an option in Display Settings for “Enable event views: Year”?

Showing the entire year’s events in a single list would be super helpful. I don’t see anywhere in the documentation where it’s possible to hook onto the Display Settings panel, nor do I see hooks for extending the front-end “View As” view.

    Hey Leonard,

    Thanks for reaching out!

The Year View is something we’re still actively working on—it does not exist yet, and it’s not possible to have one without extensive custom coding far beyond the scope of support we can provide. 🙁

Sorry to disappoint! We’re hoping to have the Year View be a reality by the end of the year, though this is a very general estimate and I don’t have a specific estimate for when the Year View will arrive.

I will update this thread when the Year View is available, no matter how far away it is from now.

Please let me know if there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with.

    Cheers,
    George

ONE YEAR! Wow. And there’s no way that we ourselves can do in the meantime?

    Hey Lee,

It may indeed take a while for us to build the Year View, so I unfortunately don’t know how long it will take and it could indeed take up to a year or longer depending on what other things our development team has to devote its time and attention to.

As for building a year view yourself, sure, you can do this—by which I mean it is generally technically possible. But it is a very complex customization to make, and you would have to write that custom code or hire a professional developer to do it for you.

If you’re interested in this route, we have a list of great developers here → http://m.tri.be/18k1 (and have no affiliation with any of these folks—they’re simply some well-respected names in the community that we’ve compiled to share in situations like this one).

Sorry to disappoint here, Lee. Please let me know if there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with.

Thank you. Any additional links for developing it ourselves would be much appreciated, such as API references.

    Hey Lee,

We unfortunately don’t have any materials of that type, per se. The best resources we have are as follows:

    • The Technical Docs on this site.
    • The Knowledgebase on this site.
    • The plugin code itself. Not being trite here—what I mean more specifically is this file within The Events Calendar:

    the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/API.php

☝️ This file is the closest thing we have to an API for our plugin. Each function is listed there with some documentation and comments on each one. It should be helpful.

Best of luck with your customizations!
