GuestNortherncatskillshistory.com will be a WordPress site to primarily promote local history, and continuing education in three counties of upstate New York. Associations that would populate the calendar would be local or thematic historical societies; libraries; and a variety of museums, entertainment venues, and school drama clubs.
The calendar default would be to present all activities chronologically. However, I would like the viewer to be able to select (1) activities in more restrictive geographical areas, or (2) by themes of the event (music, theater, historical, etc.)
I do not want to be bogged down inputting all of these different events. Instead, each sponsor or presenter should be able to input the activity. There should also be the option of emailing information and asking for help to upload it.
Initially, an inputter would create both the venue and the event, but the application should maintain a database of venues and over time, the venue description, contact information, and directions would be self-populating.
I am sure that at some point a jackass will try to take over the calendar, so I need an ability to identify the abuser and be able to blacklist future entries (email address?).

MemberHey Gerry, thanks for getting in touch!
Based on what you mentioned, I would recommend the following plugins:
- The Events Calendar (free) – This is our core plugin that displays events posts in a calendar format.
- Events Calendar PRO – This extends The Events Calendar with additional features but, specifically for you, the ability to create custom fields for more detailed information in events.
- Filter Bar – This extends The Events Calendar so that your site visitors can filter the calendar and view events by specific attributes, like Category, Venue, Organizer, Cost, Distance, Time, and any custom fields you create in Events Calendar PRO.
- Community Events – This adds a submission form to your site so that visitors can submit events to your calendar. The nice thing about this is that you can set it so that only members of your site can post events, which will help prevents those malicious fellows from hijacking your calendar.
Does this sound like it matches what you are looking for? I will add that we offer a nice refund policy that allows you to return any of our products back within 30 days of purchase should they not work the way you like.
Cheers,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
