Venue CSV importing

I am currently importing all of the venues for my calendar of events via the csv importer.

On the video by MT about how to use the importer, the presenter says that “We don’t want to import the venues website so we’ll set that to ‘Do not import'” even though his demo csv has a website listed for each of his venues. I understand that not everyone will want to, but the field is there so why can’t we map to it?

Venues have the option of having a website in their data and but the cdv importer doesn’t allow you to map that field.

Is there a reason for this and can it be expected to be available in the future?

The same goes for the description field for ‘venues’ and ‘organisers’ … the description fields are available on the venue or organiser pages, why can’t they be imported with all of the other data? This is possible for events so can’t see why it’s not possible for these too.

Hi – thanks for your questions.

The CSV importer is a fairly new piece of functionality so there may be some gaps, such as you have identified. It would certainly be possible for us to look at adding support for extra fields and I’d encourage you to post a feature request (or add your support to any suitable existing requests along these lines).
