I use wp_deregister_script(‘jquery’); on my pages and insert jquery myself from google as some features don’t work with the wordpress jquery instance. However I have noticed that if I deregister jquery then the folliwng lines also fail to appear on my site

that seems to provide the ajax and more info on hover on the calendar.

Is it possible to remove jquery and keep these files?

    Thanks

Hi there David. Thanks for the note here; not sure about this one myself, but let me see if our dev Jonah (far more knowledgeable on such issues than myself) has any ideas. Stay tuned, as he’ll be hitting the forums later this morning.

    Hi David,

There shouldn’t be any problem with doing that but maybe you’re not doing it the right way. I tested this code out and it works fine: https://gist.github.com/2703738

All the features of our plugin still work. Let me know whether or not that helps.

    Cheers,
    Jonah

    Hi
Many thanks for your replies, I was just using wp_enqueue_script(‘jquery’); in the header and then calling the google version manually, that’s the way I always (used) to do it. I added your code into my functions file and voila, working as it should.
Perfect support yet again, if only other premium plugins had support this good.

Glad to hear that David! We pride ourselves on our support so it’s very encouraging to hear praise like that from our users. If you wouldn’t mind giving us a shout on Twitter and/or giving the plugin a rating at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/the-events-calendar/ – we’d really appreciate it!

And if there’s anything else we can help with don’t hesitate to ask 🙂

    Cheers,
    Jonah
