Using Events Calendar PRO and Events Tickets Plus for class bookings

    I’m currently using WooCommerce and looking to add calendar functionality and more options for my site. I use WooCommerce to book cooking classes and am looking for the following functionalities:

    – Set up classes (products) for purchase. Classes may repeat over the course of the month.
    – Track the number of attendees (and make sure the classes are not over-booked)
    – Maintain a running customer list and easy to view summary of how many people are booked for each class
    – Enable automatic email reminders (to be sent for example, the day before the class as a reminder)
    – Sell downloadable gift cards (ideally with a customize-able format so they can be printed and gifted) redeemable for any class for sale on the site
    – Enable users to view classes on a calendar view that includes whether or not classes are sold out

    I realize Events Tickets Plus does not support recurring events – so in order to get around this, is there a way to copy an event and assign to another date or would it require starting it from scratch? Any other information you can provide would be helpful for the application of these plugins with WooCommerce for classes, thank you.

    These are excellent questions and I’m afraid that our plugins may not be the best fit for these requirements. While a few items on the list are easily accomplishable with both The Events Calendar and Event Tickets, there are a number of limitations that prevent them from doing everything.

    For example, Events Calendar PRO allows you to set up recurring events and Event Tickets Plus does allow you to create tickets for those events that you can use to sell, track attendance and check people in at the door. However, Event Tickets Plus does not currently support recurring events, so creating tickets for the type of events you’re looking for would not be available.

    You can certainly create an event as a recurring series, then edit the individual events because doing so will then break the event out of the series and make it a standalone event. However, the ticket information would not carry over, so you would still need to create a new ticket from scratch for each event.

    Also, things like automatic email reminders and gift cards are also unsupported by the plugins. It’s very possible that there are other third-party plugins that can help make them possible, but I personally have not tested them to see whether they would do the trick. Here is a possible email notification extension and a gift card generator that could be worth looking into.

    Does this help answer your questions? Again, I’m not fully convinced that our plugins will be the right fit for you here but, as you can see, there could be tricky workarounds available if you’re willing to give them a try.
