I am getting complaints that users are not able to add new events from our “Add Events” page. They enter all the appropriate information and click Submit. They are then directed to a white screen that asks them if they are sure they want to do this? There is no option to answer the question. There are no clickable buttons. We have successfully purged our cache to fix this issue sometimes but it always comes back. We are not sure what the root cause of this is.

This is actually on the events calendar community plug in.

    Hi John,

I’m sorry that you’re running into this issue, but I’ll be happy to help you figure out what’s going on.

First, it looks like you’re running some older versions of our plugins. Can you first try updating to the current versions, along with the current version of WordPress (4.9.6):

    The Events Calendar 4.6.8

    Events Calendar Pro 4.4.27

    Community Events 4.5.12

    Filter Bar 4.5.6

I would also recommend updating your ticketing plugins, although I don’t think that is the cause of this particular issue:

    Event Tickets 4.7.3.1

    Event Tickets Plus 4.7.3

Since some of the versions you’re running are quite a bit older than the current versions, I would strongly recommend doing a full backup of your site and updating first in a staging environment. Jumping from much older versions to current versions can sometimes lead to compatibility issues with other things on your site. You can use the free Duplicator plugin to create a staging environment if you don’t have one already.

Make sure you update everything at the same time, as running an older version of one of our plugins alongside a newer version of another one can also lead to compatibility issues.

After updating, you’ll want to clear out your cache within W3 Total Cache to make sure that you’re seeing the current version of the page. Let me know how this goes!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

What if we have customized the code? I am afraid updating could cause issues.

    Hi John,

If you made customizations via template overrides (which you can read more about here), then your code will be safe. However, if you customized the core template files, then these will be erased when you update. For this reason, we never recommend making changes directly in the plugin files. I would definitely recommend making the updates first in a staging site before doing this on your live site, and it’s always a good idea to make a full backup before making changes like this on your live site, just in case something goes wrong.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
