user permissions in events calendar for Authors?

Hi there,
I have my community events setup and all my users are set to Authors however I do not want to block users from the wordpress dashboard as some of these authors are blog post authors and need access to the backend so I have simply left this “block” option off in the community addon. However when an Author does go into the backend they see this now on the Events Calendar menu which they should only see Add Event to be honest: http://i59.tinypic.com/1218r6b.jpg

I have of course gone in here to the User Role Editor and turned off these views for the Author role but they just reappear again after I click save: http://i60.tinypic.com/9au5pd.jpg

So how do I allow access to the backend of WordPress but turn off things like the Addons menu for the author as its just a distraction of course. Thanks in advance.

Howdy James–nice to see you again!

I see what you mean. Based on the options you have checked in the User Role Editor plugin, everything that is showing in the Events menu should be there. If you wanted to remove Venues and Organizers, then you would uncheck those capabilities as well.

I can see how the Event Add-Ons option could get in the way though. Unfortunately, that one’s not tied to a specific user role. However, we do have a tutorial on how to remove it across the board.
