User capabilities for categories

Hello,
I’m well aware that there is another discussion with the same title and the same issue at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/user-capabilities-for-categories/
The resolution from Barry, more than two years ago, was “I can put that forward as a feature request” but it’s still the same situation – any user can edit or delete categories and one can mess up hundred of other users events!

Are there any ideas, solutions or deadlines for this issue?
