My site is http://www.guidetovintage.com/
Since there is no way for a visitor to choose from a list of states to find events in that state (without using search), I wanted to create such a list and hyperlink the state with a search. For example, I want to hyperlink North Caroline with this URL in the description in a community event (for example: click here to find more events in North Carolina) or even in a new page on the site:
THE PROBLEM
When I hyperlink to the above url, the url cuts off at http://www.guidetovintage.com so the visitors ends up on the home page. How can I get the URL to be the full URL when I hyperlink?
I know nothing about coding so need very detailed instructions. Or is there some other way I can list US states which shows the events in that state.
Thank you,

I was just checking out your site and noticed that The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO is currently running version 4.0.7. Will you please update to the latest versions? The Events Calendar is currently at 4.1.0.1 and Events Calendar PRO is at 4.1.
Also, I noticed that the URL you shared is missing /events, so if you add it in there, the link will properly go to the North Carolina search results:
Is that the link you were looking for and does it point to the page you need? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

March 21, 2016 at 7:42 am #1091762GeoffMemberHi @guidegirl and thanks for following up!
In Pages > I have a page called “Events”. There is nothing in it. It says “Permalink:http://www.guidetovintage.com/events/”
That could very well be it. The Events Calendar creates its own page, so having another page on your site with the same permalink can cause issues like the one you’ve been describing. Will you please try deleting that extra page, then heading to Settings > Permalinks and clicking the Save Changes button (even though you will change no settings)? That should remove the conflict and flush your permalinks so that you can give the URL another try.
Thanks!

I did what you wrote but it didn’t fully solve it. However, I went into Menus > Menu structure > Change the URL for the custom link for the Find vintage events > and now it WORKS!!!! The URL is correct.
And now my main issue is solved too and I can create hyperlinks that are not cut off!
Thank you so much. I especially appreciate the way you responded in explaining how things work and why we took certain steps.
Off I got to improve the site thanks to you! I am so excited. And it also solved the ugly URL I had for that page.
Have a great day,
