ParticipantHi, What’s the best way to update the event pro and community pro plugins. The dashboard doesn’t show an update, burt I have 3.8 on the site. Also I have both the event calandar regular and pro plugins in the site. Is it ok to delete the event calendar regular?
THanks

MemberThat’s odd.
Have any customizations/plugins been added that suppress update notification? What if you navigate directly to Dashboard β Update in the admin menu, are the updates listed then?

ParticipantNo to both. Updates don’t show up in either section of the database. I’ve been getting updates on other plugins.

MemberHmm, ok. It looks like – at least at one point or other – you successfully registered a domain for your plugin licenses. On your current site, can you confirm that’s still in place? I’m basically wondering if for any reason they were disconnected.
To test this, please visit Events β Settings β Licenses and ensure your license keys are entered and are showing as valid.

Sorry for missing this when I first replied: PRO depends on the core plugin, so to use Events Calendar PRO you must also have The Events Calendar up and running π

ParticipantWe’re getting closer. This is the message that appears below each license number “Sorry, key validation server is not available.”, but the license number is correct. I logged in and copied and pasted the number license code in.

OK, so this can happen for a number of reasons. One is temporary connectivity issues – but if it’s been a consistent problem for some time now that’s unlikely (so if you’ve had the license key in place for more than a few days that probably isn’t it).
Another is a plugin or theme conflict where third party code hinders things. To test this possibility out you could do one of two things:
- The first is completing our standard troubleshooting steps – then test to see if you still get the same message when nothing but our plugins and a default theme is running
- The second – which would avoid disruption to your live site – is quickly installing a fresh copy of WordPress (in a subdirectory, for instance) then add only our plugins and add the license key there then check to see what message appears
Last but by no means least, some hosting environments simply aren’t conducive to our update/license validation system and there isn’t too much we can do in those cases.
If you want to give some of the troubleshooting steps outlined above a try that would be great – otherwise, remember that you can still upgrade to the latest and greatest manually, by grabbing then uploading the latest versions of our plugins (available here and here) π

MemberHi! It’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. If we can help with anything else, though, please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
