I’m glad you got in touch, as moving all the way up from 1.x can be quite the task. There are a lot of exciting changes and new features since our early builds, so this is a big version jump.
To successfully move all the way from 1.x to our current 3.0 build, you’ll need to follow two tutorials. The first tutorial will walk you through the move from 1.x to 2.0. From there you can update to 2.0.11. Then you’ll follow this tutorial to go from 2.0.11 to the 3.0 build. This may seem like a lot of hoops to jump through, but the plugin has changed drastically since the 1.x build and it’s important to update incrementally to avoid a problem. You should also back up your database before starting, just in case.
You’ll want to read through the latest New User Primer to acquaint yourself with all the new features and settings. Or, if you’re familiar already, you might want to have the site’s owner read it over 🙂
Depending on your site, you may also need to do some fiddling and/or customization to get everything looking right. Check out our Themer’s Guide for some tips.
It’s probably easiest to just go through the upgrade process with The Events Calendar and then add Events Calendar PRO once you’re already on the latest version of core. If you have any trouble, drop us a line and we’ll do our best to help you out. Thanks again for your support.
