ParticipantI was wondering the best way to update Events Calendar PRO 3.4 to 3.5.1. I have tried through the license page but it is saying that my key is out of installs. However, when I go to my account 3.5.1 is available to download. Could somebody please help with this as I don’t want to lose the events I have already setup. Thanks

MemberHello giggsbda,
The Events Calendar, the free plugin available on wordpress.org, is currently at version 3.5.1 and you can download it from within the admin.
The Events Calendar Pro, the paid plugin available only on our website, is currently at version 3.5.2. It is best to update directly to 3.5.2.
As long as your key is not expired, you should be able to download all versions at https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/. Be sure to grab the current version (it’s default).
Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.
Cheers!

MemberI also wanted to add, please make sure you have a recent backup of your site before you start! I’m assuming nothing bad will happen, but better to be safe than sorry.
Upgrading from 3.4 to 3.5 was difficult for some people. Updating directly to 3.5.2 should be painless for all users though.
Cheers!

ParticipantHi Casey,
Thanks for getting back to me quickly.
It is saying my key is expired on my site, however I can make the download through my account with guys online.
To install it that way I have to first uninstall and delete my old version of event calendar pro though. I dont want to lose any of the events I have set up and deleting the old Events Calendar Pro plugin version 3.4 may do this.
Is there a way that I wont lose my events? Or is there someway I can just update it through the wordpress CMS? I am not sure why it is saying “Sorry this key is out of install”. I only bought the plugin a few months ago.
ThanksApril 28, 2014 at 11:08 am #144618Casey D
MemberYep, looks like you just upgraded in January!
It is saying my key is expired on my site,
Can you tell me more specifically where it says that? If it won’t go away you can just disconnect and reconnect the licenses at https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/license-keys/.
You can safely remove the old Pro plugin and upload the new one through cpanel or ftp. Our plugin doesn’t remove data from the database. You would have to purposefully remove the event entries. Of course, it is good to have a back up anyways, as any other thing could go wrong. But The Events Calendar doesn’t remove data when it is deactivated, some other plugins do.
Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.
Cheers!
