Update to Events Calendar 4.3.1.1 failing…. NOT PRO

I have tried to update Events Calendar to 4.3.1.1. After a serious crash whilst updating that cost us two hours of expensive support, we now get an error message: An error occurred while updating The Events Calendar: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.
Please advise.

Thank you for posting and welcome 🙂

It sounds like you need to check your permissions for your wp-content/plugins folder. If you have an FTP app such as Filezilla, connect to your server and navigate to your wp-plugins folder. Once there, right-click the folder and select ‘File Permissions’. You can then compare what your current permissions are to what the linked above article on WP folder permissions recommends to see if that is indeed the reason the plugin is not updating correctly.
