ParticipantGreetings,
Running Events Calendar Pro 4.2 and WordPress 4.6.1 (via multi-site).I am receiving the following error : ‘There is an update available for The Events Calendar PRO but your license has expired. ‘
However, our license does not expire until March of 2017. Any assistance is appreciated.
Thank you,
DougPS-I have not disabled the theme or other plugins, in case this is a possible licensing issue.

MemberGood evening Doug and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the struggles you have been dealing with in the context of this upgrade. I would love to help you with this topic.
You are correct, you license has not expired!
I am not sure exactly why you are receiving that prompt. In any case, you have 2 potential solutions:
- You can safely move your licenses around: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-your-license-keys/
As such, I would suggest disconnecting your license and reconnecting it as a first step. - If that does not work, you can:
- Deactivate Pro and delete it
- Head over to https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/
- Download the newest version of Pro
- Install it via the “Add plugin” WordPress interface
As a side note, I am noticing that you are using a much older version of our Filter Bar plugin.
Please know that non-matching versions of our plugins may create issues.Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantMany thanks for the info, Geoff. For some reason, the license that was listed for our install of Events Calendar Pro was not the same as the license listed under my account. I updated the license, and the message went away – I am not sure if the old license was tied in with v3.x of E.C. Pro (which appeared to be installed but not active; I went ahead and removed it from our plugins), but everything appears to be working now.
As for the Filter Bar, it does not appear to be available on my download link, even though we have a license for it. I was under the impression that it expired the same time as our license of E.C. Pro, but that might not be the case.

MemberGood evening Athena,
I am super stoked that you managed to fix your license issue.
As for the Filter Bar, it does not appear to be available on my download link, even though we have a license for it. I was under the impression that it expired the same time as our license of E.C. Pro, but that might not be the case.
Typically, this is a completely separate license than the one for the Events Calendar Pro.
I went ahead and looked at this specific account and could not find a trace of the purchase.
Perhaps it was originally purchased under a different email address ?In any case, the choice is yours. You can:
- Continue using your current version and hope it does not “break anything”
- Purchase or renew a license for the Filter Bar Plugin
You are welcome back in our support forums any time 🙂
For now, I am going to close this thread.
Have a great weekend!
