Upcoming events list view does not show events for today

I have a website that is using this events plugin and in the list view for the events this shows all upcoming events as it should, however it does not display events that occur on the day that you are viewing the website. For instance, events for August 5, 2014 do not show today because today is August 5, 2014. This is only the case with the default URL for the events page (example.com/events”). When you switch between the events it appends today’s date in the URL (/events/upcoming/?tribe-bar-date=2014-08-05) and it shows the today’s events, and all upcoming events exactly how they should.

It seems to be an issue with the default query, but I cannot locate where the plugin deals with queries. Could I possibly just override the query?

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the delay!

You can override the query, but I’m not sure you should be having this problem in the first place.

To override the query, look into the tribe_events_pre_get_posts, pre_get_posts, and parse_query hooks.

This may be some sort of plugin/theme conflict though. If you follow this tutorial, are you having the same issue?

I tested to see if there were any conflicts but this was still a problem. Do you have any further ideas about how to fix this?

This actually may be intended functionality. Are the events not showing in progress? When I make an event for today, as an example, if it has an 8am-5pm time, it won’t show on the ‘Upcoming’ list view as it is in progress. I believe you’ll have to change the query if you want those types of events aren’t showing.

Otherwise, could you give me more specifics about the type of events that aren’t showing? What type of events are they?

Is there a setting, plugin or workaround to set our current time with this events plugin? We discovered our hosting server is 5 hours ahead of our location time. What this means is that in List view, an event at 10am – 2pm, is not longer listed for today. Any solution would be super helpful.

Howdy whollymackerel,

There certainly is. If you go to WP Admin > Settings > General, and look for the Timezone drop down. Is it set to the wrong one? If so, swap it about to the proper setting. Generally selecting a city instead of + or – value is the best option.
