ParticipantHi,
We’re running TEC 3.0.2 and TEC PRO 3.0.4. We have WooThemes “Merchant” theme installed on our site. Every page on the site now has “Upcoming Events” as the page title. This is not the title that appears above the body of text, it’s the one that appears in the browser tab bar, and thus indexed in search engines and whatnot.
I also notice that the same page title is displaying this way on a single event: “| Event Name | Site Name”. You can see this at this link: http://f4dc.org/event/democracy-chat-4/2013-12-24/
Thanks for your help.

ParticipantHi David,
You will need to modify the template files so that the proper title is set. You can see this FAQ for some help with doing that: https://theeventscalendar.com/faqs/the-calendar-page-title-shows-title-of-an-event/ – that’s for actual page titles displayed on the front end, but the same concept applies.
I hope that helps,

ParticipantI’m also getting a similar issue, all of our pages now have the “Events for Thursday, January 1st 1970”. This is NOT on pages that are showing any events, so modifying our calendar templates will have no effect.

ParticipantSorry, that’s supposed to say “now have the <title> …”, this form seems to eat up anything resembling HTML.

ParticipantHi flipp,
Have you tried changing the Event Template in Events > Settings > Display? What theme are you using? Are you using any sort of SEO plugin to set page titles?

ParticipantOnce again, this is happening on ALL pages, not just event pages but yes, we’re using a custom template. We’re using the Bones theme and we’re not using any SEO plugins. We are simply calling <title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title> in our header on any page, posts (and custom post type posts) seem to be uneffected.
Looks to me like TEC has a filter for modifying the title but runs no matter what page you’re on.

ParticipantHi flipp,
I asked if you had changed the Events Template because I was wondering if this changes anything with how titles are displayed. I’m not seeing the behavior you described either, I don’t Upcoming Events used as the page title for every page. Can you please clarify what you’re seeing? In any case, you are going to need to follow the FAQ instructions to specifically set the titles on each page.

ParticipantHi,
I am having the exact same problem as flipp where “all of our pages now have the “Events for Thursday, January 1st 1970″” appended to the site title. I also do not have an SEO plugin installed.
This is what it looks like: Events for Thursday, January 1st 1970 : KiDOinfo: parents and kids, providence and beyond
I have the Default Page Template set.
Any ideas on how to remove that part of the site title? Thank you.August 1, 2013 at 10:33 am #58285Rob
MemberHey Daniella. Sorry this one slipped through the cracks; Jonah’s last day was Friday and I’m still catching up on the threads from his absence. My apologies there…but know that I’m committed to getting this sorted for you. Mind sharing a link to the site so I can check this out in action, and try to advise next steps from there? Thanks.

ParticipantNo worries. This was the code in my header:
I removed all but bloginfo(‘name’) and it removed the whole 1970 bit.
Site: kidoinfo.com.
Not sure if there was a better solution.
Thank you.
Also, and totally unrelated, it would be nice if the “Login to Post” button on this comment form redirected to the last page viewing rather than the home page. 🙂August 1, 2013 at 11:33 am #58321milcms
ParticipantI am having the same issue at: mit.michigandistrict.org

MemberHey Daniella: thanks for confirming as much. And yes, I agree that the redirect problem is a pain. We’ll be addressing that when we upgrade the forums in a few weeks here 🙂 Appreciate your patience on it in the interim.
Milcms: have you confirmed that this is a theme-specific issue?

MemberMilcms: in the interest of keeping things organized, I’m going to close out this thread. If you’d be so kind – assuming the issue persists – as to create a new thread outlining your problem, we’ll do what we can to get you sorted in as timely a fashion as possible. Thanks!
