Upcoming events disappear after every update

Once again I am having to deal with the Upcoming events widget disappearing. The fix is simple, I just inactivate all the plugins, then reactive the Events Calendar and the Events Calendar Pro. The upcoming events show again.
But my gripe is that this is the third time in recent weeks this has happened.
Am I making a mistake in configuration somewhere?

Thanks for reaching out to us, and sorry to hear about this issue.

Does this happens after you update our products? Or after every plugin update? I’m not familiarized with this issue, but I can’t think of any event-related setting affecting this. Probably it’s a conflict with other plugin or the theme itself.

Do you have an staging site (maybe just a local copy) where you can run some tests?
