ParticipantI do see some additional posts on this topic. But…
The public is currently unable to submit an event through our site, using the “submit events” tool.
The error message is: “Are you sure you want to do this?” / WordPress failure notice. The form works if you are a site admin. Any help you can offer is appreciated.

ParticipantHowdy Deb,
I would love to help you with that.
That sounds like a probable conflict. In order to proceed we will need to test if a “conflict” is happening, and if so narrow it down so we can find a fix for it. This guide walks you through how to test for a conflict, and then identify what is conflicting.
Are you able to find a conflict?
Cheers!

ParticipantThis seems impossible to test, because it intermittently works. And some people’s event entries are going through. Some still aren’t, however (and they are telling me).
For example, I began by changing the theme at your suggestion and testing: worked fine (ooh la la)
Yesterday, I tested multiple times (had friends test, too), from different devices: worked fine
This morning, i tested again: not workingthoughts, suggestions?

ParticipantThanks for elaborating and giving the theme a test. Intermittent issues are a pain to troubleshoot, there is no doubt.
Based on your description of the error page and “Are you sure you want to do this?” confirmation, it sounds like a page I have never seen before. That is what led me to conclude it is probably a conflict. I believe something might be hijacking the Community page, or adding erroneous stuff to it.
Would you be able to take take a screenshot of the page(s) that you have described when the error happens? If so, then please post them here so I can have a look too. It might help reveal what is hijacking the page, and help us narrow down the conflict. Further, would you mind if I submitted some test events to try and reproduce the error on your site? I can label them all as tests in the title so you will know which ones to trash.
It is still possible we will need to do a full conflict test. Sometimes it’s unavoidable. But, I’d like to help you try everything we can first to narrow it down. One thing that comes to mind is a caching plugin or setup. When logged in users never have a problem, but logged out ones do often caching is to blame. Logged in users never see cached pages, but logged out ones will. Further intermittent issues can frequently be caching problems.
Cheers!

ParticipantSure — go ahead and try some tests. I just submitted a few successfully, but a few unsuccessful attempts this morning, as well. Here is the screen:

ParticipantHowdy Deb,
Thank you for sharing the error. Based on your screenshot does look like it could be a security or caching plugin improperly interfering with that page.
Sadly I was unable to reproduce the error. I submitted 11 test events, all labeled “Modern Tribe Test #”. If you are still seeing it, we will need to do a conflict test. If you have any security beyond the basic WordPress, such as a plugin which locks down the /wp-admin/ folder, you might try disabling that for now. Also if you have a caching setup, whether it a caching plugin or something built in to your server, can you try disabling that as well. It is very likely one of those. If the error definitely goes away, then we have narrowed it down to one of two things. But if it doesn’t a wider conflict test will be necessary. 🙁
Cheers!
