Hi there,
firstly: the site is using a Twenty Twelve Child Theme, so I didn’t revert to Twenty Fourteen for testing.
Question #1:
Mainly in Firefox, the event editor seems to be broken. Whenever I open the edit page for a single event, the browser freezes and gives out a script error, offering to debug or stop it. Sometimes the whole browser crashes.
Example: “Skript: http://www.balance-hofheim.de/…oad%5B%5D=e,plupload&ver=4.7.3:2”
Also, the visual edit field seems to be broken. It stays white and can not be used.I already reinstalled the plugins which didn’t help. Do you have any idea what the reason herefore may be?
In the chrome browser, the editor seems to freeze but is working after a while.
Question #2:
In the mobile view of the events page,
http://www.balance-hofheim.de/events/
there are no featured images displayed in the events listing per day underneath. Is this normal / is there a way to implement them? Thanks!
April 17, 2017 at 7:29 am #1270661BarryMemberHi Joachim,
Really sorry to hear you’ve hit up against some difficulties.
firstly: the site is using a Twenty Twelve Child Theme, so I didn’t revert to Twenty Fourteen for testing.
OK, but would you be able to revert to regular Twenty Twelve (ie, no child theme) and can you confirm you deactivated all other plugins when testing this, except for those provided by Modern Tribe?
I realize you indicated having deactivated other plugins already, but I wanted to double check as you have some that would impact TinyMCE (the visual editor) in particular.
Question #2:
In the mobile view of the events page,
http://www.balance-hofheim.de/events/
there are no featured images displayed in the events listing per day underneath. Is this normal / is there a way to implement them? That is perfectly normal. The Events Calendar is highly customizable, though, so it should be possible to add featured images if you want them: a great starting point would be to review our Themer’s Guide.
As we try hard to stick to one issue per forum topic, though, I’d ask that if you need further help with this specifically you create a new topic (and one of the team will be only too happy to assist further if they can) 🙂
Thanks!
April 19, 2017 at 7:57 am #1271612JoachimParticipantHi Barry,
thanks for your answer.
Regarding my main question (#1):
Yes, I reverted to the regular Twenty Twelve theme and deactivated all other plugins, the script error is still occuring (the only extra plugin used is “Categoty Colors” for the EC).Could this also be related to the database? The site was migrated to a new provider some weeks ago and is now using a MariaDB database. The error is ocurring with PHP 5.6 and with PHP 7.1.
April 20, 2017 at 1:24 am #1272005BarryMemberI have to admit I would be surprised if the change to MariaDB would have impacted things.
Some other thoughts/items to explore:
- What happens if you deactivate the Category Colors plugin? (It’s a great plugin, but it isn’t actually one that we are responsible for)
- Is it only Firefox in which you see this error – which version if so?
- Any chance you could expand the error message and provide us with the complete error? (Right now it seems to be truncated)
Thanks!
April 20, 2017 at 9:12 am #1272215JoachimParticipantThanks again –
disabling the Category Colors plugin doesn’t help. The error mainly occurs in Firefox (freshly updated to Version 52.0.2).
In Chrome and Safari the event edit page loads for 30-60 seconds, then it works. In Firefox the script error message pops up and if one chooses to “debug the script”, the whole browser freezes/crashes.
Here are the error messages from the console in the other browsers:
Chrome Browser:
moment.min.js:6 Deprecation warning: moment construction falls back to js Date. This is discouraged and will be removed in upcoming major release. Please refer to https://github.com/moment/moment/issues/1407 for more info.

If you deactivate just Events Calendar PRO (but leave The Events Calendar active), does that clear up the issue? I’m keen to further isolate the source of this, so if you’re able to test this out that would be awesome.
April 21, 2017 at 7:20 am #1272643JoachimParticipantThanks for your question, deactivating only the PRO plugin removes the issue indeed!
On reactivation, the script error / freezing is back.
April 21, 2017 at 8:10 am #1272674BarryMemberThanks for checking that! A further test, if you don’t mind: can you visit the Settings → General admin screen and modify the time format from H:i \U\h\r to H:i (ie, no escaped characters).
Does that happen to resolve this?
April 25, 2017 at 8:29 am #1274101JoachimParticipantHello again and sorry for the late answer –
there doesn’t seem to be a setting for the time format under settings > general;
under the second tab “Darstellung > Einstellungen Datumsformat” (date settings, the site is in german) there aren’t any escaped characters, or are there (see screenshot)? Thanks!
April 25, 2017 at 8:35 am #1274106JoachimParticipantOh, I misunderstood your last answer –
if I remove the escaped characters in the time format under “settings > general”, the error persists…
also after clearing the cache/ logging out and in again.April 25, 2017 at 8:55 am #1274120BarryMemberThis is really odd. OK – how about this: can you create a fresh WordPress installation, perhaps within a subdirectory (ie example.com/testwp). Install nothing except The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO, create some events and see if the same problem occurs there, too.
If it does, can you pause and let me know? While we don’t normally log into customer websites we’d be happier to do so within a test site if the issue can be seen there, too. If it can’t be seen, please also let me know and we can look at some further steps.
April 26, 2017 at 7:51 am #1274679JoachimParticipantOkay, I will probably be able to do this in a few days and then come back to you.
Thanks
April 26, 2017 at 2:04 pm #1274941BarryMemberAwesome, I appreciate you being willing to do so 🙂
