Trying to alter titles on calendar views

Hello.

I am trying to update the titles on the calendar view here: http://csihub.wpengine.com/events/.

I have updated the functions.php file in my child theme (based on this article: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/altering-or-removing-titles-on-calendar-views/) so that I don’t lose my customization anytime my theme updates.

Can you please let me know what I’m doing wrong?
