ParticipantHi, I have just installed your Events Tickets Plus Plugin and made a few test purchases using Paypal.
The first purchase I tried to make failed because I had typed in a wrong seller’s email address. However, even though the payment did not go through and was not marked as finished, one ticket was removed from the stock. I then made a second purchase which worked but I received acknowledgement of my payment only by PayPal (no mail from Events Tickets Plus. After I manually completed the order, I received a mail with the tickets. Perfect. Now I have made two more purchases but though I see the message in the dashboard saying that a certain number of tickets are pending, I cannot change the order status to completed anywhere… Thanks for any help. MemberGood evening Sabra and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic. Can you please send me a screenshot of the following pages:
- Downloads > Payment history
- The Edit Event screen details on your install (including the Edit Tickets details)
As per the email, you are right. Normally, the tickets only get sent once the order is marked “complete”.
Normally, you should be getting emails pretty much every step of the way.
It looks like something might be blocking wp_mail emails on your install.I would recommend installing and configuring a plugin such as: https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/
This will use a legitimate email address to send emails instead of using the wp_mail method.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantHi Geoff and thank you very much for your kind reply to my mail. Though I have used your wonderful Events Calendar for some time, I am new to Event Tickets Plus.
I am attaching the two screenshots you requested (The site is in German, I hope that doesn’t confuse you too much!!). In the Payment History I now see the payments I made yesterday. Is it possible that they might have appeared there with a delay? I am almost (but not absolutely) certain that I looked at this page yesterday and saw only the single completed payment with “Abgeschlossen” written next to it.
I am still trying to understand whether I need to add any of EDD’s shortcodes manually anywhere or not.
Up to now I only received two emails on the completed payment and only when I manually completed it. One was a confirmation of the order with links to the tickets and one was a mail with the tickets themselves. How many mails should one normally receive? I will try to install the plugin you recommended and let you know how that goes. Once again, heartfelt thanks for your help!

ParticipantHi Geoff,
I have set up the email plugin you suggested and tested it so that now it is sending mails from regular smtp.
I have set up a test event and set the global stock option for 2 types of tickets. When I pay for a ticket I am taken to paypal and everything works fine. Then I am returned to my own site where I see a screen confirming my order. However, I receive no email confirmation. When the order is marked as completed, 2 mails are sent out.
Also, I am having trouble with the global stock option. When I have pending orders they are not deducted from the global amount so it is possible to oversell… Can you explain how this works? Thanks very much once again for your patience! SabraSeptember 14, 2016 at 4:26 am #1163849Karin Hermes
ParticipantHi once again Geoff,
I wanted to let you know that the global stock issue seems to be resolved. I deleted the old test event and created a new one with two types of tickets at different prices and set the global stock option. When I purchased all the available tickets (leaving them pending) and went back to try and buy more I got a message that there were no more available.
I have one last question for you. I need to set up a family ticket for two adults and two children. Is this possible with Events Tickets Plus and EDD? Thanks once again for your kind help and advice. SabraSeptember 14, 2016 at 9:49 pm #1164430Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Sabra,
Thank you for writing back and providing all of the extra information and for your fantastic words.
In the Payment History I now see the payments I made yesterday. Is it possible that they might have appeared there with a delay? I am almost (but not absolutely) certain that I looked at this page yesterday and saw only the single completed payment with “Abgeschlossen” written next to it
I am super stocked to hear that you are now seeing the payments.
To the best of my knowledge, there should not be a delay in the payments showing on that screen.I would definitely recommend keeping an eye out for that moving forward, just in case.
Please report anything suspicious you might bump across.I am still trying to understand whether I need to add any of EDD’s shortcodes manually anywhere or not.
Normally, you should not have to add EDD shortcodes anywhere (unless you have a very specific need).
EDD is fully integrated with our plugin. That means that as long as you create your tickets within an Event, the EDD tickets will appear automatically.
Up to now I only received two emails on the completed payment and only when I manually completed it. One was a confirmation of the order with links to the tickets and one was a mail with the tickets themselves. How many mails should one normally receive? I will try to install the plugin you recommended and let you know how that goes.
Normally, 3 emails are sent out per successful purchase:
- A “New Download purchase” email to the WordPress admin
- A “Purchase Receipt” to the customer
- A “Tickets” email to the customer
When I pay for a ticket I am taken to paypal and everything works fine. Then I am returned to my own site where I see a screen confirming my order. However, I receive no email confirmation. When the order is marked as completed, 2 mails are sent out.
This reflects the normal behaviour. No email is sent until the order is marked Completed.
Also, I am having trouble with the global stock option. When I have pending orders they are not deducted from the global amount so it is possible to oversell…
That is a good point. For all sorts of reasons, that behaviour is also normal.
As you can guess, some users prefer to approve transactions prior to confirming purchases.
With that in mind, I am pretty sure there is a way to have orders turn to Completed automatically after the payment has been approved. In fact, it turns out it should be the default behaviour: http://docs.easydigitaldownloads.com/article/190-payments-not-marked-as-complete
I am mostly glad this now seems to be solved for you!
I need to set up a family ticket for two adults and two children. Is this possible with Events Tickets Plus and EDD
The short answer is yes. You mostly have 2 ways to go about this:
- Create a special ticket type for that very purpose. In other words, even though you are selling only 1 ticket, it is actually meant for 4 people (2 adults, 2 children). The downside is that this won’t work well with your Global stock option
- Use a plugin such as https://easydigitaldownloads.com/downloads/discounts-pro/ will allow your customers to buy the tickets individually and get the discount of your choice.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thanks once again for your excellent and detailed explanations. The issues I had seem to be resolved for now in my test environment. I should be posting my first real event with tickets soon and will be back on the forums if I have further questions. In the meantime, I wish you a very nice day and once again, many thanks.
