I want to trigger an email to the event organiser when a community event has been moderated and approved. You have suggested using Better Notifications for WordPress but this, as far as I can see, only notifies a the WP admin (or other role) that you yourself have approved it. What is the work round here please

MemberHey @angust, welcome back to the forums!
Are you allowing anonymous submissions to the Community Events form? If so, then I’m afraid there is no way to trigger an email to the person submitting it since there is no identifiable information to use for an email.
However, if you are requiring people to register on your site to submit events, then that will indeed create a user role for that person with an email address that the Better Notifications for WordPress plugin will be able to manage.
Does that make sense and will it work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

ParticipantPerfect thanks – so what role should they be signing up for so that I can assign a role to trigger the Better Notifications for WordPress ?

MemberHey @angust and thanks for following up!
Any role should be fine. I think the default role in WordPress is Subscriber and the Better Notifications for WordPress plugin will allow you to create a notification specifically for that role.
I do want to note that I did try installing the Better Notifications for WordPress plugin and it did not seem to have a trigger for the exact kind of notification I think you’re looking to send. I may have overlooked something, but wanted to at least throw that out there since I noticed.
Cheers,

ParticipantThe only problem with this is that there is no option to create an account if you don’t have a WP account already – it just takes you to a login page

MemberTry heading to Settings > General from the WordPress admin and enable the option for “Anyone can register” (screenshot). That will create an option on the WordPress login screen for folks to register an account on the site.
Cheers!
