Hi We are having an issue with the “tribe_events’ shortcode not filtering evenets by tag. This is the shortcode we are using :

    [tribe_events view=”list” tags=”EFP”]

And this is the page containing the list:

    http://www.ontariosoilcrop.org/oscia-programs/workshops-webinars/environmental-farm-plan/

For example the forth event listed is “Biology of Soil Health Workshop” which does not have a tag of EFP.

    Thanks Brian

    Hey Julie,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

I’m so sorry to hear that you are having problems with your shortcode! Let me help you to solve this.

Please make sure that if you use quotation marks in your shortcodes, they are only “straight quotes” and are not “curly quotes.”

The shortcode you shared here is using curly quotes. Please replace it with: [tribe_events view=”list” tag=”EFP”] and let me know if everything works as expected after that.

You will find more information about our calendar shortcodes here:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be happy to assist!

    Best Regards,

    Patricia

    Hi Julie,

I’ve just noticed that our forum is automatically converting the quotes to curly, but you will find a practical example here (in the “Limitations of the [tribe_events] Shortcode” section):

    Cheers,

    Hi,
I have copied the text from the page you suggested and the events are still not filtered by the tag indicated in the short code.

    Thanks

    Hi Julie!

I’ve just ran some tests and you are absolutely right: using [tribe_events view=”list” tags=”your_tag”] won’t filter the events by tag, although this feature is already available for our widget shortcode [tribe_events_list tags=”your_tag”].

I would recommend you to cast a vote in our User Voice page:

    https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/18382048-add-tag-as-filter-option-for-tribe-events-shortcod

This will give us a great idea of how much demand there might be.

In the mean time, I’ll take a look in our plugin core files and let you know if I find a workaround available. I won’t be able to investigate it right now, but you will be contacted as soon as I have more info.

    Thanks!

    Patricia

    Hi Patricia,

I have been able to work around the issue by appending parameters to the URL … such as :

    ?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=list&tribe-bar-search=EFP

I will add a an item to the User Voice page as it would be nice to have a tag filter in the shortcode.

    Thanks
    Brian

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for sharing your workaround here!

For future reference, I’ll drop here some additional info regarding our shortcodes: out of the box the [tribe_events] shortcode supports these attributes:

    – date
    – tribe-bar
    – category
    – featured

The intent is to replicate the functionality of the regular ‘full’ views and as such it doesn’t support multiple tags or anything else the main views don’t directly support (in the case of tags, for example, the default behavior is to take the user to the regular tag archive and just add events to the mix alongside normal posts). You will find more information in the following link:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/

Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be happy to assist!

    Cheers,

    Patricia

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
